Dogs

I don't think pets should be allowed in stores as there can be potty/peepee accidents. Growing up, I brought my dog to Petsmart and he liked to mark certain areas.

My grandparents do this nonsense from time to time.
We ALL fuss at them about it too. And the grocery store here in town finally said something too....

It gets to 100⁰ every summer....pets in vehicles is only for vet trips or hunting trips. Not for running around town.

Unfortunately, even though I'm more of a dog person I seem to be stuck with cats all the time. I have two half ferel cats that came with this house. They do get the mice and squirrels though....

But these are not indoor pets whatsoever.
They shed way too much to even think about letting them inside.

So....I dunno how or why people make pets as people replacement. Some kind of dementia I suppose.

Because animals don't challenge our selfishness the way people do. Dogs in particular worship the ground we walk on.

Just leave the dog at home to watch a Sad movie. 😄

Pets offer a different type of companionship, just like a friend's companionship is different from spouse. I think it is unrealistic to have one person fulfill all companionship needs, and one person alone doesn't encompass all companionship dynamics.

Pets offer friendship, therapy, activity buddy (for dogs), etc. so they do serve a companionship function, and I actually believe that God gave us pets for companionship.

It is true that some people prefer their pets over people, but I think this is people they know for whatever reason. Maybe the people in their lives cause too much stress, for example. They just haven't found the right people. Or, they can also be people who don't mind being alone and just because they have a pet, it doesn't mean they are replacing people because they would still be alone anyway.

For the small sum 0f $75.00, Ancestry.com, through the magic of DNA, will provide you with your dog's ancestry. I'm sure that ours is part human. We were thinking about finding out how much, but decided not to. She already rules the house. If she finds out that she is more human than us, we're really in trouble.

That usually only happens with cats.

We love cats, but I'm allergic to them.

I personally know a disturbingly large number of dogs who rule their houses.

In my experience cats generally cannot be bothered to rule. They don't really give a fart in a whirlwind what anybody else does, as long as you don't interfere with their own business.

I'm reminded of something I heard long ago:

My dog thinks I'm great because I feed him. My cat thinks he's great because I feed him.

Same. So our 2 stay outside. They love to stretch out in the sun and they have a ledge out of the elements to cuddle up and stay warm in winter. Our female cat likes to follow me around and try to trip me when I do outside chores to get my attention. But as soon as I try to give her the attention she wants, she ignores me and wanders away. So fickle. 😆

SHE'LL be the alpha!!! Geez... you'd have to hunt in packs with her, lift your legs over fire hydrants, chase cats, hump legs... sheesh!!

I have had/have two dogs and a cat they have been all equally loving, communicative, and attention-seeking in their own way. My cat is an indoor/outdoor cat and sometimes he acts like he doesn't know me from Adam. Other times, he is my soul cat.
