The people are great.

But it is probably the one centre in the whole country where a noticeable group of people are are preoccupied with wealth and consumerism. But even they will be under pressure to find deeper values these days as the economy staggers on (like yours).

How does the current situation affect your life in Nevada?

I am okay for the moment. I work for the JCPenney Company processing returns in a logistics center that services our internet orders. However, the unemployment here, last I knew, was around 13%.

I'm hoping I can hold on to my job for at least 12 more years so I can pickup my maximum social security benefit.

Wow, what an arrival! - - - a pig to roast!

(I'm not affected by the earthquakes -- on-going -- thank you for asking, 1500km away, except feeling for our countrymen and watching our second largest city reduced to "war-zone" and people leaving daily.)

I guess Graham crackers are particularly delicious American delicacy, or are they a tradition?

I can't remember my last Graham cracker. When I was a young boy, I'd have them with milk when I got home from school, and loved them.

Glad that you aren't directly affected by the quakes, Mr. Steve :)

It might just be an American thing, but it's a campfire tradition to toast a marshmallow and sandwich it with some chocolate between two graham crackers (slightly sweet crackers made with graham flour). I like to add peanut butter, as well, but that's not normal (then again, neither am I :p). We call the concoction a "S'more", because they always leave you wanting "some more". Serve with milk, and a good campfire story. Come to think of it.........anyone want to tell a story? Please? :)

I 've had some s'mores in my life but didn't know the history behind them.

I can't think of any stories right off the bat.

I know a good one, but I don't want to be the writer of a long post.

I wish Desert Joe would show up and tell us one of his. They're out of this world.

Oh, he's a current member.

I just remember his posts "One Riot, One Ranger" and "Daddy Can We Keep Him".

They were awesome stories.

He doesn't post very often, but when he does I find what he says has maturity and love.

Hello and hi all!!!
Oh I do hope the fire is still burning, I love spending time around the campfire.
I brought my faves to share, hotdogs and hot kilbasas, buns and plenty of mustard.
And of course, plenty of home canned pickles!
Also some corn on the cob wrapped in foil to roast with butter, nothing tastes better than that. :)
Are there still makings for smores left ? I like flame on the marshmellow when I make my smores. :)

God bless

I haven't had corn on the cob for a long time. Sounds good.
