hi everyone. i'm addressing an issue which is important to me and that i feel others should know. to understand how the morning after pill works you must understand how pregnancy works. progesterone is a sex hormone that women create naturally when pregnant and is required in order to keep the baby alive. if a high dose is taken before you're pregnant, it either prevents ovulation, fertilisation or alters the lining of the womb so the fertilised egg can't attach. it does not cause an abortion. if natural progesterone is taken as a contraceptive but fails, it actually promotes and strengthens the pregnancy. emergency contraception such as plan b (america) and levonelle (united kingdom) contains a high dose of this hormone called levonorgestrel. this hormone is a synthetic progesterone which is similar to natural progesterone but is much stronger and potentially harmful reportedly causing miscarriages and birth defects. the website states "If the tablet fails, studies have shown no harmful effects of Levonelle® One Step on the developing baby. Levonelle® One Step will not work once a fertilised egg has attached itself to the womb lining, so if you know you are already pregnant you should not use it." despite this claim the fda (US food and drug administraion) has catagorised the drug as catagory x. "Animal studies have not been reported. The are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Levonorgestrel is considered contraindicated during pregnancy." the reason i believe there is little research in this field is because they don't want you to know the possible harmful effects. the company that supplies this drug make millions and therefore want to keep it on the market. another problem is that as it is now freely available, girls are self medicating and taking multiple doses in a close time frame, not knowing they could potentially be harming the baby. the alternative is natural progesterone. the drug companies can't patent and sell a natural substance which is why they created this awful synthetic progesterone. it's advertised on the internet, in the news and in the newspapers and is a lie to control the pregnancy rate with no regard for the babies welfare. i encourage anyone reading this to tell friends and family about natural progesterone tablets as an alternative. the dosages are different so ask a doctor about how much to take. if you don't believe in contraception atleast discourage loved ones and friends the use of the morning after pill for reasons stated above. i am in no way encouraging people to have unprotected sex as i am a christian myself, but it stands as an inevitability that people make mistakes. to save all the babies out there please pass this information on. i also ask of you to pray for the drug company to stop selling this drug as it is dangerous. any questions are welcome. god bless.
