What are some of your favorite hymn lyrics?
Here's one that always gets to me:

"Joy to the World! The Lord Is Come"
Words by Isaac Watts, 1719

(written 295 years ago and alive and well today!)

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing, ...

Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy, ...

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found, ...

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love, ...

"Blessed assurance - Jesus is mine!"

Or...

"Jesus loves me - this I know
For the Bible tells me so" (this formed my soul when I was very young)

"O the deep, deep love of Jesus"
Lyrics by Samuel Trevor Francis, 1875

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me, is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward to Thy glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, spread His praise from shore to shore!
How He loveth, ever loveth, changeth never, nevermore!
How He watches o'er His loved ones, died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth, watcheth o'er them from the throne!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, love of every love the best!
'Tis an ocean vast of blessing, 'tis a haven sweet of rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus, 'tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory, for it lifts me up to Thee!

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Thou art the potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after thy will,
while I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Search me and try me, Savior today!
Wash me just now, Lord, wash me just now,
as in thy presence humbly I bow.

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me I pray!
Power, all power, surely is thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine!

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Hold o'er my being absolute sway.
Fill with thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me!

1. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

2. Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

3. Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
perfect in power, in love and purity.

4. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity.

"When we've been there, ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing God's praise, than when we'd first begun."

Amazing Grace - John Newton

And also...

"Holy, Holy, Holy Lord,
God of power, Lord of Hosts,
Heaven and Earth are full of your glory,
Hosanna in the Highest,
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord,
Hosanna in the Highest."

One of my favorite hymns is by Charles Wesley called "I Call The World's Redeemer Mine"

I Call The World's Redeemer Mine

I call the world's Redeemer mine
He lives who died for me, I know
Who bought my soul with blood divine
Jesus, shall reappear below

Stand in that dreadful day unknown
And fix on earth His heavenly throne

Then the last judgment day shall come
And though the worms this skin devour
The Judge shall call me from the tomb
Shall bid the greedy grave restore

And raise this individual me
God in the flesh, my God, to see

In this identic body, I
With eyes of flesh refined, restored
Shall see that self-same Savior nigh
See for myself my smiling Lord

See with ineffable delight
Nor faint to hear the glorious sight

Then let the worms demand their prey
The greedy grave my reins consume
With joy I drop my moldering clay
And rest till my Redeemer come

On Christ, my life, in death rely
Secure that I can never die

There is a fountain filled with blood,
Drawn from Immanuel’s veins,
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains.

The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in His day;
And there have I, though vile as he,
Washed all my sins away.

Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
Shall never lose its pow’r,
Till all the ransomed church of God
Are safe, to sin no more.

E’er since by faith I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die.

When this poor, lisping, stamm’ring tongue
Lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save.

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Hath broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, of that free love
The breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
Here for a season, then above,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
