I'll go with mine first..

I have been faithful to two teams since the time I started watching it (in the 90s'), so, even this time around, am gonna be cheering for the same team again: Brazil and England.

As for winning, I'll place my bet on Brazil! :)

Hahaha...Rachel@ I know I have my own 'secrets' for supporting the teams even though they no longer play for their respective teams now. But I am a loyal fan so, still supporting it :D

i'm sad that Egypt got knocked out of the qualifying.

after all their country has been through, a world cup showing would have rallied all her citizens, i thought.

soccer usually trumps political disputes :)

2 teams...

That's a hard call, but I would say Brazil and Italy...

I would think England won't even get through to the knockout stages, they live on old glories don't you know! :p

IMO, Egypt like India is a lost cause when it comes to FIFA World cups.

I know England team is not strong, its only my wishful thinking (as a loyalist fan) that they would at least go till the quarter finals. They have many excellent individual club players but somehow they don't seem to click as a team when they go for the FIFA cups. How I sooo wish for them to win the cup for once (in my time).. Every time, I watched England team play, I feel like am gonna have a heart attack.

You have Van Persie and Sneider among others to count to, so, yeah you have got a good team there :) I guess both Germany and France are a team to reckon for the cup. But so are other teams like Spain, Argentina, etc, etc. All we can do is cross our finger, wait, watch and see whose team gets it :D

Both the teams ^ IMO are strong contenders to go into quarter finals from their respective groups. However, if the two teams come into head on, I guess Argentina might have a little edge over Portugal. But it will be fun to watch Ronaldo and Messi playing opponents, displaying their best to outwit each other :)

Yes, I love football (oops! I mean soccer). It's almost like a crime not to like it when one is born in my part of the country.

As for playing soccer, I am not a professional player but yes, I used to play during my high school days. However, after a point of time, I find it more fun to watch and cheer for one's team with family and friends than play.

Ms. sanglina: The women's soccer world championships are apparently being held later this year in Canada.

Blessings.

Thanks for the information! But honestly speaking, I don't follow women's soccer as much as I do of men's. I find women's soccer interesting and fun to watch when its played at local level (i.e. when we know the players personally).

Ms. sanglina: So as an Indian woman, do you, or could you, regard women's soccer as a liberating thing, maybe?

Blessings.
