I actually watched an interesting documentary recently on how people are using genetic technologies to make designer babies and choose desired physical characteristics. They select the sex of their child, the hair color, eye color, etc. There are definitely risks associated with this technology. It will sad if you were perfectly capable of having a healthy baby but because you just wanted a specific gender or a certain cosmetic feature, you ended up having a child with medical problems too. We should be content with what God gives us. Also, I believe it treats children like a commodity kind of like picking a car color or a house, which is unethical.

I think we should question all changing the way God creates anything. Whenever man decides he can do it better, it results in trouble. When food is homogenized, for instance, it becomes harmful. I don’t understand about the process of choosing a baby but if this is interfering with natural processes, then it will not have good results or be right.

At the same time, God is showing us more and more, especially in the medical field, better ways to treat the body. Some sects say blood transfusions are wrong, for instance, when this doesn’t change any of God’s creation but is truly helping. The problem is in knowing the difference.

Eeek, I've heard about that stuff.

It sounds interesting as a science fiction idea, but as a reality the concept kind of creeps me out. I'm not sure why. Weird vibes. =/

Seems like people are messing with things they ought not to.

As for the original question. Obviously no. I don't think gender selection is okay. You're messing with nature and possibly the future generation if enough people used it and communities became gender-uneven...

It could lead to the "beast" spoken of in revelations. A perfect human being, or one with super powers. thats what Hitler tried to accomplish. He wanted a race of supermen. Look where that lead to. Lets not go down that road again.

I think its not right, its like man trying to be like God. People should be thankful when blessed with a child, whether its a boy or a girl.
