Ugh...

Every stinking year those rats steal every single pear from our pear tree before we get a chance at them. Don't get me started on the pecans.

Yeah. Those are definitely thieving little rodents.
We solved our pecan thievery problem. We ate the squirrels.

Michael took out the pear tree and the oak trees, so we have to resort to deer plots for venison.

About 25 years ago working on a business venture at a partners residence I would feed the squirrels and when they were fattened up he would shoot them and fry them up. While they smelled delicious I was reluctant to even taste them, not to say I have tasted some unusual critters, like alligator which was repulsive and sea cucumber is a total waste of time to pursue as food. This take with a grain of salt. A nurse told me that squirrels can carry a similar disorder like BSE mad cow disease and the brains are particularly suspect. A guy I knew at a company where we worked told me he would shoot sparrows to eat. He came here from Soviet Armenia and was in the Soviet army and claimed they would strain shoe polish thru a potato to get alcohol to drink. I mention this because he also was a big fan of eating offal, organ meat, like brains. Closest I come is trying sweetbreads, thymus gland, very tasty but I am more content eating pecans with minute rice. half shot glass rice out of the box and half pecans or walnuts or ???very crunchy but softens rapidly and forces you to CHEW YOUR FOOD. Almost as addictive as chocolate but much more nutritious I bet. Eat enough and you get more than regular. Saddle of venison...delicious,..probably farm raised though.

No, they're a lot different than rats. Gerbils we buy at a pet store. Rats we try to kill with poison.

Okay so yeah, they're like rats. They're just not as good at surviving on their own.
Rats are sold at pet stores, too ;)

So are snakes, but I'm still gonna swerve to try to hit one if I see it on the road.

Reckon how many pet stores sell rats in places where they are pests and people are trying to get rid of them?

But, rats in those stores are different. They're cleaner and more people-friendly.
