For those of you who don't know, Gliese 581g is a planet that was discovered about a year ago, and at the time, was believed to be similar in size, density and distance from its star as earth.
Now that more data is starting to come in, it looks like it shares comparable composition to earth as well, including liquid H20. Vogt (one of the scientist that discovered the planet) has said now that with all the data they have compiled it is almost a 100% chance that they will find life on Gliese 581g
Of course, the life part is not completely confirmed, and there are even still a handful of scientist not completely convinced that the recordings are correct..plus, its 20.5 light years away.
But what if there is life there? How do you think that will change things, as humans, for the world, and maybe even for religion? What if there is complex life forms like plants and animals? What if there are life forms like us there?
Me and some friends had a really long conversation about this today, I am just curious as to the thoughts here.
