I've already typed it out (took me two years and three months) so I thought the next logical(!) step would be to write it out by hand.

I can't decide whether to use separate sheets of paper or spiral-bound notebooks. Fountain pen, ballpoint, or pencil? Decisions, decisions...
Have you ever watched the movie, The Book of Eli?

Well, I've bought some A5 lined notebooks and several ballpoint pens (blue ink), and I'll begin tomorrow

I plan to take my time by doing one chapter a day. A simple calculation tells me it should take three years and three months to complete :)
For some reason I'm reminded of a Sherlock Holmes story about the Red-Headed League. The guest star was put to work copying the Encyclopedia Britannica.

i remember another member several years ago who wrote the Bible out by hand, but i don't recall what version she used or the particulars of what she wrote on.
it's beautiful

i have thought of writing it all in the sand - if i lived near a beach

I used to use Biblegateway also, but prefer Biblehub because I do like the BSB :)
I use both but essentially like biblegateway for a cleaner interface for just reading chapter after chapter ((these days typically nkjv)), and biblehub for easily accessing interlinears, Greek/Hebrew info, and occasionally commentaries.

So **mostly** biblegateway to read, biblehub to study

iirc the 'Berean study bible' is biblehub's own proprietary version, which is why you don't find it anywhere but their website

You can read chapter after chapter on Biblehub as well :) I like their
blue and white pages better than the yellowy brown of gateway also LOL :D

Blue is not my favorite color but I like it better than brown or tan
or beige... or yellow :D There is red there, too (on Biblegateway)

Blue seems crisper  Also, I really like Biblehub's right-hand accompaniment of context given,
followed by Cross Reference verses, and then the Treasury of Scripture. I find those very helpful :)

Scrolling further down to the Greek or Hebrew is handy also, not having to navigate to a new page to find it ;)

agree agree -- except for the color preferences, ha!

which is what makes biblegateway my pick for just "reading" - i can close the sidebars i just have the text with fewer distractions. i go to biblehub when i'm looking for cross-references and more info; i go to biblegateway when i'm just doing daily reading

did you know the universe is beige btw?

Beige?!?!?!?!?!?! Hahahahahahaha!!! :LOL::ROFL::LOL:

I can only close the right hand sidebar on Biblegateway

Biblehub displays a full chapter at once if you want, without all the extra info,
but there are slim sidebars on either side still. You can choose to read two parallel
versions at the same time of your choice... Say, are we having a show down here? :giggle:

'Cept instead of EPS, SVG, PNG, JPG, DXF, and PDF, we choose between
ASB, BSB, NIV, KJV, CSB, ESV, HCS, ISV, NAS, NET, NLT, HEB etc etc on Hub or Gateway :cool::giggle:

I have several graphic novel Bibles and all that lettering is done by hand I think (and the pictures) I think The Action Bible used the NIV, or a paraphrase of it

My hand writing is big so if I did it would probably end up being very fat. I could have a go at a short book in the Bible though, or maybe just one of the epistles. Of course letters are the natural medium of the New Testament and some of them are very short.

I wouldnt do them in two columns like many bibles are printed like that though, cramming in as much scripture as they can.
Oh and numbering all the verses will you do all that as well?
Large Print Bibles are the way to go if you are going to spend a lot of time copying.

My issue has been annoying on that front. Chapter/verses included? Only legitimate paragraph breaks? Italicize words that are in italics? KJV that is.

Huge roadblock for me which is irritating. I'll start and then it stops me alas. Typing on cardstock is fun though.

There are some notebooks you can get that look like books and have perforations if you absolutely had to tear a page out. Spiral with perforations would probably be best because you don't notice one has been torn out but if you ever wanted to bind it you could also.

Post back on your progress in a while if you remember...excellent discipline.

Well, I've changed my mind.

I've decided to use the NLT as my base translation, but I'm anglicising it. I'm also changing any politically correct words and phrases so as to follow a more 'traditional' path. I'm not bothering with speech marks, question marks, and exclamation marks as I think they look untidy when written out. Commas and apostrophes are fine, though.

I'm up to Genesis 15. It's going well :)

I find speechmarks annoying when I see them in some versions of the Bible. KJV actually doesnt have any and still reads well...and if you want an Anglican Bible then KJV is probably the most anglican/English one you can find.

NLT is american I think.
