I think having a separate toilet and bathroom is better than having them both in the same room together for the number of ppl in household having to share or use that room at the same time.

But its just now quite common to have a toilet and shower/bath in the same room, which I really dont like. i dont know its just a bit icky for me (or smelly) plus, if you having a shower theres nowhere to hang your clothes or room for hamper and you end up putting them over the toilet seat...ick

Before indoor toilets were the norm, you had an outdoor loo faaaar away from the house and you didnt take a bath in that same space people were taking a dump, and no, the shower is not a urinal
