Not sure why it has taken this long, but after 6 years and 4000+ job applications I finally have a job! telephone Customer Service Advisor for a large banking group, good pay as well. Starting in January.

Here is another strange thing, when I appplied there were dozens of start dates, each start date was for a different shift pattern, I did not look too closely and went for earliest start of the lot, turns out it was a weekender pattern, hours will vary from 30 to 40 hours a week, from 10am to 10 pm and Friday to Monday so yes it means having to work Sundays.

God works in mysterious ways, so am I here because God wants me to be here? Absolutly! OF course there will be chance to change in 6 months time.

My voluntry work played a massive part , from the initial application, telephone interview and in all the processes of the assesment day. Another interesting point was that I spotted early on that they were just interested in ability and skills, none of the usual stupid interview questions came out. My advisor at job centre told me that only a small percentage of people get to the assesment stage and quite a few people are rejected out of that assessment stage, so yes I have done well.

So yes I am over the moon!

So much work for a low level job. I remember when employers were begging for people and paying handsome wages with full benefits and large numbers of people owned small but extremely successful businesses. Ah, but free trade and monopoly capitalism materially replaced that. I suppose a congratulations is in order... well until they restructure and let you go anyways.

What a bundle of joy you are!

Actully my employer has 30 million customers in the UK, at any one time there are at least 6,000 people in the UK dealing with the calls. They also recruit internally and have thousnads of positions within the organisation. If I want to sit on a telephone for next 10 years, then they have no problem with that, but I want to progress, there is plenty of opportunity for anyone to progress. Plenty of training schemes and they will fund university degrees in certain subjects.

Pay is more than competitive, as I said they do not just employ any idiots, they take customer service seriously and only employ people who understand and can demonstrate this, as a result the pay is very high to reflect that. throw in plenty of bonuses and performance related pay and, generous 6 weeks holiday for me, if you do not take it all you will be paid the equivalent wages, all kinds of financial schemes and so on.

This means that I can now have stress free life regarding finances. I can just have all bills and rent go out each month and I will not even have to think about it, I will have more than enough money to buy all the food and other bits and pieces needed to support myself and my daughter.

I believe God wants me there for a reason, but what that is I have no idea yet. As I said seems strange I end up with this job and its taken me all these years to get here.

Congratulations your new job! And your ambition to climbhigher!

God is in control, and I guess your time to go back to wage earning has come! I'm sure you are the right person for the jb, even if you have to work Sundays. Maybe look for some kind of evening fellowship you can attend on your days off?

Agricola,

who can't help but to rejoice when one can share such happiness and relief?

and yes, it does seem strange: we pray that by this time of your life
and journey, you are more than well equipped to deal with the
inevitable strangeness of this world.

What a nice blessing to receive after having been unemployed for that long of a time.
May it be so that God sets a pleasant path before you and strengthens you to perform your task well.
Thank you God for bringing joy to brother Agricola's heart and thank you brother Agricola for sharing the exciting news with us here. Best wishes friend :)

Hey,

I am so happy you are ''over the moon'' Agricola! I hope I will soon be over the moon to, literally or figuratively, I don't care lol. I have also suffered in this regard, but for perhaps different reasons? It's uncanny. I have 2 degrees: one in Communication and another in English (B.A. and the M.A.). I have been confused ever since I got these degrees, finishing in 2009. I wanted to pursue Psychology but I felt God had another idea and lead me into the Communication field. I believe He will use me as a public speaker in the future, but it's not quite the time yet, and the general careers people pursue in these fields really are not for me as I really am more scientific or philosophical in my thinking, so that hasn't left me with a lot of options in the meantime. Boy. Any way, hopefully I will be swinging by the moon any day now too.. : ) Congratulations!
