One "aha" moment that has served me since its arrival several years ago is the fact that when I get self-critical, I tend to be unhappy with myself for that, so I go one step further and criticize myself for being critical.

Do you have that voice? It goes something like this:

"There you go again, being so critical. You know that's not good for you! Why do you always do this to yourself?" etc, etc, etc.

Recognizing this tendency is much like recognizing I'm in a hole and laying the shovel down, as opposed to continuing the foray into darker places.

The Lord doesnt like a pitty party. Why should we bring ourselves down as our Lord is working to bring us up?

To change, is to know. Once you know, then do it!

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. Romans 7:15

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the spirit of life set me free from of the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2
