I only knew Baptist, Catholic and Sevenday Adventist for a long time (as those were the only denomination in my hometown) but now that I am aware of the existence of several other denominations, its kinda becoming a headache as its difficult to keep up with what all the 'groups' really believe.

I have no problem with it. I guess part of it is that I like learning, so learning about other groups is less difficult for me.

i think this photo is a good analogy of denominationalism, however; the word confusing should have been contradicting. then your statement would have related to denominationalism also. i''m not confused about denominationalism. i know it's a sin.

I don't think God intended there to be denominations and I think they divide us. We spend so much time and energy touting how which is wrong and which is right and we spend less time spreading the word. I go to a non-denom, naturally!!!!!

'Denominate' means 'to give a name.' So 'non-denom' is a contradiction in itself, since 'non-denom' is a name for a CERTAIN kind of church. Yet another church, yet more division. The problem doesn't lie with the names, teachings etc of the different churches, but with their unwillingless to learn from one another and the lack of mutual respect. We're all branches of the True Vine, which is Christ.

Yup. That signpost feels exactly like trying to worship almost anywhere. Or trying to decide what to post in almost any thread in the Bible study at CC.

every time I think about denominational differences, I think about what Paul said about the useless wrangling of men a few times in his letters.

1 Cor 11:18 - 19 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

The reason there are denominations are that many people are happy to follow false doctrines. These may use all sorts of words to justify it, but it doesn't change that their doctrines are false. Denominations help to separate those with false doctrines, and keep them from contaminating those with true.

many denominations HAVE false teachings. they are the problem, not the solution. they teach their doctrines instead of the Bible.

Sometimes it seems people like to bash denominations to make themselves look/feel more spiritual. 'Look at me, i hate denominations because i'm so spiritual'. Denominations don't bother me. It only becomes a bother when people mistreat the concept by thinking theirs is the only right denomination. But having a term to easily and quickly identify your doctrines is not wrong.

The Church of God is his word and its filled with his love and understanding of him, we need to love one another and open our hearts to all people of this world. We are all sinner's of Flesh, All of us are seeking God's truth in their hearts just as you and I are we all want the same outcome, that is to be with God in his Kingdom. God love's us all we are all his children.

Scripture does warn to come out of the mother whore and her daughters. I believe that some of the daughters are the various denominations that teach doctrines of demons. The mother gave birth to them.

Rev 18:4-8: "And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ Therefore her plagues will come in one day—death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her"

It's true that many are following Rome. Even the prosperity gospel came from Rome, it just has another name for it. The idea that one can lose salvation is also a Roman teaching, etc, etc. You can look at most false teachings and clearly see their relationship with Rome. Don't be fooled by the different names used, the teachings often turn out to be the same.

When we get to the gates of Heaven, so to speak, will the first question be what denomination are we?
No, I expect it will be concerning what our relationship to Jesus Christ is. He is Lord and we are his children.
If we are then our names will be in the Book of Life. Yes?

You should enjoy this debate over, well, over pretty much all Denominational Ideologies....... :)

At least they agree that OT. Law says that the blue sock goes on the left foot. It's the red sock in the visions of the prophets that are causing the problems.

I see it as typical gov't 'doublespeak'.
Of course it will be explained that STOP is a momentary suspension whereas 'stopping' is anything longer than momentary.
Yes...churches have their govt's too.
