Actually I feel bad like I'm seeming antagonistic or argumentative... Forget all I said and please know that was not my intention. I basically just don't even understand evelution...
Sorry to anyone I sounded mean, argumentative or anyway less than polite too...

Love you all!

Just wanted to say that you do not sound mean or argumentative. You sounds genuinely interested in finding answers to your questions. I wish that I had answers for you about this. I am hoping that someone will make a post that explains it in a way that helps you understand.

The main thing I wanted you to know is that you did not come across as offensive, antagonistic, or in any other negative way (in my opinion). I hope you have a blessed day. Don't stop asking questions because you are afraid of offending people. You want to learn! One of the best ways to do that is to ask questions. I am in my 40's and am still learning things every day.........I love learning new things!

I will answer any questions that are earnest and are not inflammatory if there is anything that you are wondering about my (un)beliefs.
Matthew, you remind me of a man named Saul who was asked a question by Jesus. A question that changed his heart and life forever. A change that one day resulted in Saul having his name changed from Saul to Paul a writer in the Bible.

"As Saul was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him; and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" And He said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,…"

Will your offer to answer any questions about why you're an atheist result in the same results Saul received? Hopefully your heart will be changed and you'll refuse to gamble that you're right and God does not exsist. Saul choose wisely. Who would sit at a table and gamble where the odds are 50/50? Fifty percent chance that when you die you're dead. Fifty percent chance that when you die you'll stand before God and give an account for your life. Only a "fool" would gamble their eternity with those odds. As long as you're alive there is hope that you'll come to accept Jesus Christ as your saviour. And you'll never have to be asked by the one you denied, "Matthew why did you persecute Me?"

Atheism is a sad state of existence in which a person believes that life is now and that's it. Here is an example of one of the things they believe, which is, when you die, that's It they say, you go back to the way it was before you were born. WRONG,,,, and here's why. As a living soul which you are when you come into existence you start communicating, which you didn't before you were born. You also create an impressive memory portfolio, which you didn't before you were born. Then you develop relationships with many different people who come into your life at various stages of care and love, which you didn't before you were born. You also come into contact with God unless you choose not to, again CHOOSE not to, and if you do choose to believe in God, you now have a complete understanding of everything that is, even before you were born. Now when you die you can see to die and go back to the way it was before you were born is utterly impossible because your soul cannot go back to something it has never been to, but it can go to the person who created you, because when you die your soul has to go to a place where souls go, which is with God or a place of eternal separation from God, but it can never go back to the way it was before you were born, because before you were born you wasn't a living soul.

The only 'choice' I'm making is deciding that you have no evidence to support your claims of a god.

I'm sorry but I fail to see a convincing argument as why we don't just die to nothing. But firstly, I am an atheist and have a very happy and loving existence. i value each moment of my life and respect the lives of others for the fleeting and precious things that they are. You use the phrase "living soul". This is unfortunately intangible and nothing more than a sweet ideal. The are defined points in our foetal development when different senses and brain functions activate.

Much else you state is true. We do learn things, meet people, etc. However, the moment we die, al those memories and experiences die with us. This is one reason why people write down their thoughts, record their memories in works or art, photos, literature or even song. The only part of 'us' which continues when we die are the memories we leave in others and the genetic material we pass to our children.

So for this reason, to touch as many lives as possible, to raise your children in such a way that they would one day want to tell your stories, to speak for the dead, and to record your thoughts as you live each day and not allow time to be wasted is the only way to ensure that some part of your life will go on after your death. And when the day comes, and I die, none of this will worry me. As I will be dead. I have played my scene and let the stage to the new cast but hopefully inspired a few lives along the way. Is this so horrific?
