In 35 states, welfare benefits pay more than a minimum wage job, according to a new study by the Cato Institute.

Study: http://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/pubs/pdf/the_work_versus_welfare_trade-off_2013_wp.pdf

Keep in mind that in 2011, the non-partisan Congressional Research Service reported that federal and state welfare spending in the U.S. (the study did NOT count any entitlement programs, Social Security, Medicare, Veteran's Programs, etc...) was $1.3 trillion dollars dominating the federal budget as the highest expense!

The national debt is soaring at almost $17 trillion with some analysts stating it's actually much more due to unfunded liabilities.
