Pastor Jim Jones, created his own sect. A sect is a fanatical religious organisation with a small group of followers who fully integrate their lives into the teachings of the sect and cut themselves off from society. Jim Jones was NOT a Christian, with his own noon biblical sect, he persuaded about 1000 people to live on an island with him. He performed several staged tricks which were deemed ''miracles''.
He humiliated some of his followers, such as forcing a woman to undress in front of everyone. At then end, he convinced all his followers to kills themselves by drinking poison.

So caught up in lies he believed himself to be godly
