I don't profess wisdom, I profess the scars of bumping into fallacy too often.

So who are the "many" here that you speak for?

And now that you pronounce judgement, testify then, what do I say that makes me sound "like people we were warned about in the Bible"? A shame to me if I say nothing while my neighbors walk off a cliff en masse.

If you are offended by my hatred of falicy, than that's your problem. I say I'm mean because that's what I'm told when I voice my passion for the truth.

Revelation 3:15-19
15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Tell me truly, my friends, my brethren, am I too hot? Should I be lukewarm for the sake of ecumenical politics? If everything isn't nice and pretty with flowers and bunnies, then it's "you're mean".

I choose to be hated before I choose to be one of these mindless idiots who has given themselves over to the new gospel of love.

As long as you are aligned with love, then you are ok, because God is love and he loves you, and that's the whole story, there's no enemy, there's only love and prosperity, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. LOL this is the way of the day though!

I'm still a little immature, in that I don't have the ability yet to turn the other cheek. I'm praying, and I ask you all to pray for me too, that the Spirit will minister to me in my martyrdom, that I might not shame myself by crying out, or by strangling someone on the spot.
...the scars of bumping into fallacy too often... Yeah been there experienced that. I know exactly what you mean, all of it. So full of it ya just wanna dump some back... and do. I cured some of that by cutting certain people off; I told them if they didn't like my cr*ppy attitude, they should try feeding me less cr*p and see what happens. I hate the mindless idiocy of man, saved and unsaved. We were meant for so much more and we wallow in our filth thinkin' we're all big pigs and not knowing the tenth of it. You just want to scream, but the problem is - it's not that they can't hear, it's that they just don't care to listen.

I came on here full o' steam, being loud, pushing the envelope. If nothing else it is a great place to vent, 'cept for some who'll stir you back up again :). But God has lead me to mellow, and not be so 'animated', saying it's the quality of the fruit not the volume of the speaker that He cares about. And I think a good thing to remember is this saying - "I can teach it for you, but I can't learn it for you". If God leads you to bring a lesson and you present it faithfully, what others do with it is not your responsibility... or failure.

You know, God says that in the end people will be like, well, as we find them today. He says that by their spirit we will suffer. He also says to be longsuffering with them. "Really Lord? But so many of them do deserve choking out..." Awww all right. Sigh. I'll try. But look the other way every now and then, ok?

Lord God, I giggle every time I do this, that I a filthy human, washed in the Blood of Your Son, am allowed to even approach Your Throne. Praise You and Thank You, that Your grace and forgiveness are so abounding. Lord I bring to you KittenofMelchisedek, a martyr to this world, a wonder to Yours... and I pray that You would give her thru Your Spirit temperance, and a compassionate understanding of the people around her; that she might see just how innocently enslaved and mislead they are. It is not coincidence that You refered to us humans as sheep, we are as gullible as they. They need protecting, and guidance; may we tend Your flock Lord as shepherds and not as wolves. And may the scars of fallacy be healed, and transformed by Your Blood, that we may be temperate and not harsh with those who so desperately deserve it, even as we deserve it from You. Lord God we bring this all to You in the Name of Your Son Jesus; may we never hold anything against anyone that He wouldn't hold against them. Amen

Hey at least she has you to look out for her there. It's nice to see a Godly man who is loving his wife as himself and caring about what she's exposed to. Let us know what you make of the assembly. I'm sure there are plenty there who aren't as deceived as others, and you're right, the individuals are not to blame. If they knew then it wouldn't be deception anymore. Not to mention all the people there just to check it out. =P

Joel osteen..I think that there are some of us in the beginning of our walk who need preachers like him...he is good for the christains who are still on the milk diet....the christains who are ready for meat he kind of annoys...all the sweet and encourging kind of gets fluffy....so for the new christians its encouraging.

My wife turned on Joel Osteen this morning, she loves the 'pretty boy preacher' as I call him. In the hour we listened I never heard any actual scripture reading, and only 2 honorable mentions of Jesus' Name. For the most part it was his allegories of this non-defined God and his evidently endless line of friends and family who lead evidently endlessly very blessed lives. That, and a fairly lengthy string of testimonials from people saying they had been helped so much - BY JOEL OSTEEN. I'm sorry, you mean by Christ right? Riiight...

I'm sorry, I'm really trying hard not to draw judgment, but when I think of those who'll cry 'Lord Lord didn't we do such and such in Your Name', and to whom Jesus responds 'scuse Me, who are you? I picture Joel. He has the blessed lives part right, the things he tells of are indeed very possible. But as to how one achieves such possibilities, no, he's not telling the right story. Because if he was there'd be Bible reading and more than just a passing mention of our Lord's Name.

So here's the dilemma... He's coming to SoCal in April and the wife wants to go. I'm not so sure it's a good idea. I have a hard time standing by quietly and listening to people lie about our Lord; altho in his case it's not so much outright lies as deliberate omissions. Important omissions.

What to do?
Hey there

I never knew what to make of him... the Elders in our church doesn't think much of him, saying that he is a prosperity teacher. I read his book "Every day a Friday". It was encouraging, but I wouldn't go further than the book myself. The thing is you can't choose for your wife. If she wants to go, then let her go. You can pray for her :D

Well, you know, I had an interesting conversation with someone about this very subject. And I can see how 'puff piece sermonizing' can draw new people to God. But not all of Joel's congregation are new. And established members need to be taught the not so puff pieces, because if they are not prepared for what's ahead they are going to turn away from Him when the heat comes. It'll be interesting to see what goes on with the congregation off camera. I think that's going to be the deciding factor.

I think he's gotten rich off of talking about God. He seems to have a fluffy, luke warm approach about things. I trust him about as far as I can throw him.

It's this Friday! Of course the fun part is going to be wading thru downtown Los Angeles traffic in Friday afternoon rush hour to get there.

The program is scheduled to run for 2 1/2 hours - the TV presentation is only 30 minutes - so obviously something is going on that doesn't make it to TV. We shall see what that is!

Please pray for discernment for us on Friday. And that the traffic waters be parted!

Tonight! Please pray for discernment and knowlege upon all of us as we gather tonight. I'll report back tomorrow on how it goes!
