Hey Guys!!!
So I live in South Africa and a lot of the things that I know about other countries, I learn from the Media.
So I've heard of people going to other countries and how the people in those countries have asked them:
Why are you white if you're from South Africa???!!
Do you have lions in your backyard?
Do you ride on elephants to school?
Have you ever gotten HIV?
Why are you not wearing animal skins?
( My personal favourite, this was said to a South African) Hey, I know a guy from Ghana, I think you might know him too!!
Hahaaaa!!!
So I was wondering if there are people out there who have heard of weird things about other countres/their own and would like to set the record straight!
Hahhaaaa!!

Well, here in the United States, we all ride horse and buggies to get to where we are going, but I've heard there is an invention called the automobile that allows people to travel without a horse. Have you heard anything about that?

Hahaha. I went to South Africa a couple years ago.
When I was in Australia it was right after Columbine. A school threw us a dance and decorated it with dead bodies because they thought it would make it feel more like home for us.

Where did they find the dead bodies?

I live in the mountains of California. And what you hear about everyone knowing how to snowboard is true. But we do not have inbred hillbillies. Some people LOOK like it, but aren't. Haha. We call them Wal-Mart shoppers :p

Oh yeah, the ones that drive to Walmart with their shiny 4X and taking up two parking spots so they won't get scratched. Yup, real tough hombres.

The telephone is a new device, where you pick up a receiver and speak into it. The operator on the other end of the line says,"Number, please," and you tell her what number you are trying to call. If you want to make a long distance call, you tell the operator what city you are calling. The telephone is replacing the telegraph here in the US, and I am sure it will replace the telegraph there in South Africa.

I have had some misconceptions about SA. Not as bad as the ones you've mentioned, though. But i became close friends with a person from SA and it really opened my eyes. She was white. Though she did live in Botswana , and apparently the wildlife aspect was not far off haha. But she move out of there to more developed areas.

I flew into Singapore not many years ago, expecting to find a jungle. I am still amazed at all the concrete and steel I found there, and no jungle. Instead the stewardess told me that if I was bringing in dope I may be jailed or worse.

Someone just asked if they dared hitch hike in California, or would they be shot by all our outlaws. Would all you Californians please put your guns away?
