The auditorium was empty in that lonely night
Not a whisper or a sound could be heard from the halls above
Just the sound of static and the drums of machines running their algorithms
Then, in a flash i hear the sweet eloquent voice of a small woman

She was a woman of small stature but had the voice of millions in her womb
Her eyes were glistening, to the reflection of the lights that surrounded her
Her mouth was wide ready to express the regret and pain she fought to keep inside
It was a tale of struggle, loneliness, and perseverance
The power of her voice beckoned my soul to introspection
I began to look inward into the void that was never fully healed
She began to talk to me in a quiet manner
First with whispers then with words of understanding

As I sat in the upper bleachers of the auditorium
Our eyes caught each other in a state of trance
She broke and into tears and ceased to sing
I ran towards her with much haste and regret
For she touched a part of me no one song or note could
I began to wipe away the tears of her fear
Fear of being caught in a state of vulnerability
Fear of being true to her heart and her being
As I lay with her, we embraced in a struggle for acceptance
A moment of surrender and submission occurred
Each person shares the same demons as their neighbors

One chooses to be vulnerable while the other hides in a rug of guises and deception
She hid her vulnerability through silence
I hid mine through lies and rationality
That moment of embrace however, gave us the courage to stand together
No longer will we be the victims of our demons
Tonight, we will sing and shake the foundations of this mighty hall
With no hesitation her voice boomed to the echo of my soul
It gave us renewed hope and fervent desire for change
She sang in words of poems and parables
It went a little bit like this....

Life, a tumultuous roller coaster of unexpected turns and twists
Expectations kills life fervor for change and acceptance
Love is a concept of state of mind not an act of submission limited to one lover to another
****, these demons hang on to my soul
They torment me with their insidious eyes and foreboding black cloaks
I am nothing but a speck in this universe of mystery
I have no purpose just existence

The end of my life will end my tormented soul
So I go above the city lights
The sky seems so light from up here
Yet, I feel a sense of longing and sadness
I push one feet towards the ledge
I am nearly complete with my task
The dark night approaches me, beckoning me to jump off this ledge
Long out in the distance, I see a ray of light shine across my scarred face

The dark night runs and flees for safety
For a moment I thought it was the divine light of god No its only the gentle rays of the sun shining through the clouds In this moment of life and death I come to a realization
For every darkness there is a light
For every evil there is good
Every malice is met with a deed of purity
So did I jump off the ledge beyond the city lights?

No, there was something more to reality that met my eye
The light that emitted from my soul, to the sound of my voice
Reminded me that every shadow is broken to the break of dawn
And every light dies into the dark abyss of our moon
Tis is the cycle of life

We all have darkness and light embedded inside
But its our choice whether to bask in our pains or emit love to ease our journey
The journey takes many shapes and forms along the road
In the end we have only one person who stands by us
That person is ourselves and that's all we need
So take heed, give yourself a chance
let live, take some risks and love life

for you wont know when the unexpected happens
The clip of a gun to an overdose of coke
The end of your demise is uncertain
Live to die and fulfillment and peace will encourage and vanquish fears
So learn to live and seek yourself
That is all we can do for certain
The rest is simply history.....
