They can be good entertainment though.
I was once in a discussion with someone on a different Christian forum who was the epitome of a spiritual narcissist, and he was entertaining at first, constantly tooting his own horn like a child who is desperately seeking attention, but eventually things progressed, and I eventually grew very tired of him promoting himself while debasing everyone else around him. I can laugh at people who seek attention like a child but once it becomes obvious, they are exploiting Christ and Christianity in general in order to promote themselves it is no longer a laughing matter.

When talking about narcissists in the church, it's no laughing matter. Such people are led by/ possessed by the devil.

Nanette mentioned "if you know 30 people, you know a narcissist".
With more than 30 here at CC and in life we can see them by their fruit, or lack thereof.
Thanks H & H, you have a mature faith, I am thankful for you and that you are here .
blessings

.

There are a lot of wicked people in this world. It seems like that number keeps growing too. There have even been some wicked individuals in the forum; no doubt about it.

In high school I was one of the guys that took university classes on abnormal psychology. I think the insane people who married into my family made me curious about how they could act the way they did.
Just a small sample of the reprobates who directly entered my life were....

One was a Satanist who often laughed about his experiences of crucifying animals for fun growing up.
Another was a wicked Sodomite that's responsible for stealing a large fortune from my immediate family.
Yet another tried to murder me at 10-12 y.o. by nearly blowing my head off with a 12 gauge. The blast force was so strong at the muzzle next to my face, that it was a literal miracle that I'm here today.... God spared my life.

Thank you my friend. You are a blessing too

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no words to what you have experienced, did He save your hearing as well?
In these days the good are getting better, the bad are getting worse.
I had decades of work in Corrections, I noticed I could pray all weekend and it felt like being spiritually drained when walking in, yet He acted through me to minister to many while there.

Wow, that's quite a challenging place to work. I've had a number of friends who worked in prisons and jails. Some were corrections officers in medium/ high security to pay their way through Bible college, other martial arts teachers, and a physician assistant. So I know a little bit of what you saying from those friends. It's no doubt the highest risk position of any category of law enforcement/ criminal justice.
My brother was beaten nearly to death by a 6'5"+ weight lifter goon with a 5 foot long steel bar. The security camera gal was doing her nails and ignored the camera while the ****** beat him for minutes from his head and all the way down. He had more broken bones than Evil Kenival all over his body. It's also a miracle he is still alive.
It takes a man of courage to work in that environment. Stay safe my friend.

I'm retired, and had transferred to a job at a university for the rest of my working career, so it seems I got both sides.
It is interesting how we feed, house and allow miscreants with anger problems to bulk up, then release them on society. Maybe just cardio could be allowed?
bless you friend.

Oh, about my hearing, my ears are ringing right now and 24/7. But that was from a more recent cause .

That's great that you were able to be a light in that dark place. There's a great need for the gospel and ministers in the jails, prisons, assisted living and nursing homes. I'm all for that. Those are institutions that 99% of the churches neglect, yet are wheat ripe for harvest.

If we give ourselves to Him to let Him work His perfect will through our lives He will take us up on it. It is a great life, I know of no greater way to live than to be His in relationship 24/7.
the tinnitus thing, I don't want to say "I have ..." because that causes us to take ownership of it, and any sickness or disease is not a part of our identity in Christ, so we should not claim it and thereby give it a place in us.
Perhaps I can say my el-cheapo Bossa hearing aid is a great help.
bless you dear friend

In this one from Nanette she touches on the danger it poses to be in contact with these who reject the Lord.

That's an excellent way to feel self-righteous about yourself AND shut them off from ever finding God through your witness, all at the same time. Bonus!

Nanette shares about boundaries and the narcissist, when you next encounter them, and we all will ( just look how they are awakened to attempt to steal, kill and destroy here at CC), this can be a helpful tool to keep you unsullied by the adversaries minions.

The video described a psychopath who was reprobate. While God hates divorce, the risk with the lost is that they have the potential to become reprobates. A saved person can get out of fellowship for prolonged periods of time and incur serious discipline for serious sins. However, a lost person who rejects the Lord's truth can be turned over, rejected, reprobates. Then they are capable of what Nanette described. In that example of that vile psychopath he should have been sentenced by a judge to be destroyed, according to God's Word like a rabid dog, by the father of his murdered daughter and grandchildren immediately after due process of law.

I think the example given would be described best by the following.

"28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

The Lord can take that tinnitus and hearing loss from me. I've asked Him many times. I'm grateful that it's not even worse.

I just listened to the latest in the series you posted about boundaries. It reminds me of many examples. We have read Genesis 19 and Judges 19. I will post a more modern example. The same thing has happened to other churches the past few years where they break in and have threatened the members with unspeakable things.

If you write off everyone who disagrees with you as someone not worth listening to, you'll never learn anything. Finding ways to discount disagreement is self-defeating.
