On Correcting Mistakes in Academia

I think as a christian first we judge ourselves and where we fall short before we go judging others, and then only if others have asked.

If you are a teacher or professor youself and you need to use those as teaching materials you can write to the publisher. or if you are a proofreader.

if you are a student then I would talk to the teacher cos if its a textbook everyone else is using it wont be just yours thats wrong. Or you could tell the librarian if they are in charge of the teachers resources. Textbooks do become out of date quickly and do get updated every couple of years or so maybe check which edition you are using.

The librarian will then order new ones or advise the teachers on errors, sometimes they put addendums in the books if they are already in print. Many are going online usuing e-books that can be easily updated now so its less of a task.

well if your teacher has a big class then sometimes it can be overwhelming if everyone is emailing them ALL the time, think of what a huge inbox of emails they might get and need to respond to.

I think best thing to do is wait till they have a moment with you and can talk about stuff before or after class. Maybe go to class early usually teachers make time for extra instruction/questions that way. That way you arent taking up someone elses time.

its fine. Just saying in my experience. Teachers dont always have time to respond to emails.
Just dont email them all the tme over every little thing.
I know its heard to restrict yourself though, especially if you have a lot of enquiries.

If they said its fine then do so but just dont expect a response straight away.

a mistake like what. A spelling mistake?
You dont do anything because you are not the video editor. Its not your job.
Also you didnt upload the video. Its not yours so you cant edit it. If it's yours you can.

Only on wikipedia you can edit and correct the entries.

Hi guys, so I have this textbook from school that might have at least two (factual) mistakes in it from what I’ve seen. One of them I know the location of, but the other I cannot recall. I’m sure by correcting a mistake (or mistakes) I maybe could be helpful to the publishing company in some way, but my question is, as a Christian, in general, am I morally obligated to at least try to get factual, content mistakes (of other people) that I know the location of, fixed?

On you tube you can leave a comment unless its comments are turned off.
Otherwise theres not much you can do.

Because you tube is people uploading their own content, its not as if there is a editor or moderator in charge, or a Broadcasting Standards Authority.
If something is REALLY bothering you, or the mistake is offensive, you could contact you tube (the company) about it.

They can then pull the video. But as there are millions of videos uploaded all the time, there will probably other content around that is better. I wouldnt rely on you tube for accuracy though.

As a student in school, you are caught in a very compromising place. Your first obligation is to God. Judas who wanted to help the poor in the world was told by Jesus, the poor we will always have, but you only have me (Jesus) here for a short while.
The implications are that you must always put the kingdom of God first, and all other things (temporal) second. So as you said truth and honesty matters and if given the opportunity always stand up for them in that order.

But be warned, Be as wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove. The temporal things like academic knowledge is irrelevant in God's kingdom, but since it is a part of your daily life, do your best in it. But always put a premium on Spiritual knowledge as it is eternal and will exist throughout all eternity and most important, your very life depends on it.
