I'm just really frustrated and worn out right now. I just found out today that my oldest son, who is almost six, has been hitting and shoving kids at school, and not particularly in a playful way. This is not anything new, this is stuff we have been hearing about him since he was, I don't know, 3 I think. It's getting extremely hard to deal with, especially when you do everything you can to try to change his behavior. A lot of the problem is when he was three he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and he's pretty behind developmentally. It's kind of like dealing with a six year old that has the speech of a three and a half year old, and whenever you get upset with him or try to talk with him he just completely shuts down. Outside of that he thinks and behaves just like any other 6 year old, it's just extremely frustrating, and hard to deal with, and nothing is seeming to help

That's rough :(

Sorry I don't have any advice, but I'll definitely pray for you on this.

I pray that God will see you and yours through this trial.........we don't know the WHY, but we do know WHO to place our trust in. I know that sounds easy to say.........and probably offers little comfort.......but there is a COMFORTER, and if we go to Him with a sincere and contrite heart, He will ease our souls........

I will pray for your son................

As hard as it is to hear, we must REJOICE in the LORD, especially during times of so painful and difficult trials........

Often times children with these issues require a special way of communicating and discipline. All i can suggest is try looking up a doctor or behavioral therapist that specializes in this type of condition and see about learning from them. Until then try Googling how to handle this and see if you can find any useful information to get you started in the right direction.

Yeah, I can see that, because like I said, other than what I mentioned, he seems just perfectly normal. He's a lot smarter than he leads people to believe with his actions.

Anyway, I think this is going in my awkward moment thread later, as I thought I put it in the prayer forum and didn't :p But thank you guys.
