So I am curious to what you guys are most proud about your culture...

For Americans tell me about your state or maybe city...

For non-Americans how about your country... (Or if you want your province and city)

As for me, my state New Mexico has the highest amount of PHD's per capita (then any other state)
Our food is unparalleled... (Ever come to New Mexico, eat New Mexican food not Mexican food... Mexican food is so blan and plain...)
Any McDonalds, Burgerking, or Sonic you go to you will be asked "Do you want Red or Green with that" (referring to red or green chile)
Compared to the rest of the U.S. we are very laid back...
We are also the only bi-lingual state...
And where I come from, if you can't shoot a gun... Your 'different'.

I live in NM too. :)

I don't really have any connection to my culture...though, yes, Green Chili, most assuredly, is something cultural that I delight in. That and sopapillas and tortillas and chili rellenos and posole (ah, posole) and enchiladas...okay, so I guess the only thing would be the food. LOL. :)

I'm Irish, A country with one of the worlds oldest living languages. Our national sport, Hurling, is the fastest field sport in the world and there are records of it being played that go back over 3000 years.
We have burial tombs that pre date the pyramids by over a 1000 years and are aligned so that the inner chamber is lit only at dawn on the winter solstice.
An Irish man was the first to explain why the sky is blue and there are many famous Irish scientists without whom science would be very different today.
Also on a little known fact - the Irish invented the spaces between words

I'm from Virginia.

I live just a few minutes from one of the first settlements, the Jamestown settlement, historic williamsburg and a very old church that still has a cannon ball stuck in it from a battle fought here. Some of our greatest Presidents come from Virginia as well.
I live near one of the longest bridge and tunnel crossings in the u.s. most tourists freak out so bad crossing it, they had to make a special place on the bridge for them to pull off on when they started freaking out.
We ask people which side of the water are you on. The bridge and tunnels divide two city's. We don't ask which city... it's which side of the water.
We say Macdonalts... not McDonalds.
Your fixin to do something, not about to do something ;)

When I went down to Texas it was a laughing stock... I have a stronger accent then them, and I saw more Prius' cars there than anywhere else in my life!
See I come from an oil field town in northern New Mexico... If you don't own a truck, then 50% of the year your car is a glorified lawn ornament...

(Just givin you a hard time, but what I said is true... we drove through the top of texas, to get to oklahoma)

Also we got some mad beef, because you guys stole land from us to put oil rigs on... We remember...

I'm from South West Scotland.. well I was actually born in Ireland, but have lived in Scotland all my life.. so a real Celt.

Just as a point of interest just twenty minutes away is St Ninian's cave.. He's known as the Apostle to the southern picts, he wasn't an apostle however I suppose it sounds good ;) (allegedly around the 390's AD).

It is a wonderful an beautiful place..usually always raining.. We don't have Stetsons and cowboy boots.. I love a good western film :) and country music (shhh don't tell anyone!!!).

I love Scottish music, especially the modern players (Have a listen to wolfstone and shoogly nifty on youtube), and where else would a man get away with (dare I say it without getting shot) a skirt err mmm a kilt! And look good in it!

Anyhow, If I where to shop in the states - where would one buy an authentic Stetson? (I suppose nearly every state?)

P.s Nod I think you must live in the safest area... your own personal special forces on tap.

i'm from Georgia. the main thing I like about the southern culture is people here are mostly nice and polite. the old thing about southern hospitality is mainly true. and collage football. there will probably be 100,000 plus in Athens sat. for the Lsu game.

I also forgot to add, In my state. The question "Do you want a coke?" Is not followed by a yes or no. You must answer in specifics because we use the word coke for everything. A rootbeer is a coke, a sprite is a coke, a mountain dew is a coke... Everything is a coke...

I can't tell you how many times I have asked for a coke at a restaurant (out of state); and when they give me a coke I think to myself I didn't order this. I wanted a Dr. Pepper....

The Philippine marine reef has the greatest biodiversity in the world! I'm also proud of the food that i myself make like adobo, sinigang, kare-kare, pork barbecue! The sunset at Manila Bay is unmatched. We're also a culture of smiles and a country of eternal hope.

Over here - Tex-Mex is generally a packet of spicy nuts you get at a bar - I am hoping you mean more than this
Tex-Mex is mixing Mexican food with Texan food... Its al' right... I prefer New Mexican food... Cuz New Mexico is better than texas, we are texas without the arrogance :p
