if it was His will for you to be inanimate, it would be so.
therefore it is His way, that you should be sentient.

people think of Him as if He were human, and judge Him by the human ways that they think He should act - but His ways are not our ways, and He is not a man, concerned with short term goals and physical rewards. He is God, and the whole of time and space cannot contain Him. billions of years and trillions of stars are a small thing for Him, yet your own heart, He has given personal attention to!
why?
it is a mystery, and it is His love. but given God, and man, why should man be able to comprehend God? and nothing is known unless He reveals it to us. it's even written, that we cannot fully know -

He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.
(Ecclesiastes 3:11)

so here we are, wholly dependent on Him, with so many of us thinking behind the veil that we are independent and He is 'optional' . . . . !

He isn't understood by supposing He is you, and then asking '
what would i do if i were god?'
He is understood through humility - that is what He says, and He says it in order to communicate it to us:

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
(Isaiah 57:15)

You know, and I realize you may not believe me, but I knew all along that on some level you were having us on. I actually thought you were presenting the attitude of atheists to get a feel for how to respond to them when they say the same sorts of things. Someone said in one of their posts that nobody here knew you, but I recognized you right away, and I remember sharing a lot with you regarding apologetics toward the non believers, when you first joined. It is hard to believe it was only the beginning of this year. It seems so long ago already! Of course this is not to say I am very familiar with you, but I had some sense of who you are, and did find it nigh impossible to readily accept that you had so easily given up your faith. I am glad that part at least was true :):):) I have witnessed believers allowing atheists to shred their faith. It remains one of the saddest things I have seen in all my years talking to people on the basis of my own faith in the living Word of God.

I have kind of not had noticeable eyebrows for forty years :D I am used to it :)
hmm that's weird. Someone mentioned me in some other thread? It is true that I don't like to post often. This time I really lost it and had to rant. I think a week back I made a similar post like this but I told everyone not to respond because it was just out of anger and I didn't mean it.

Good that you remembered me, because I was wondering if you remembered me from that post I made back in January!

The relationship between my family members is terrible. And we're currently low on money. Those are some other tough, tough things I deal with. Other than that, my life is a breeze.

An atheist couldn't shred my faith because God keeps letting satan remind me he is real with his spiritual attacks. And since satan is real, God is real. I'm glad to know you're happy for meh

I have tan skin so no eyebrows on me makes me look like an alien or seal.

How about your Pastor, have you talked to them about these things?
I don't have a pastor. I don't go to church. I live next to a wicked Catholic church. I've been connecting with God all on my own with the help of some people on the internet. But most of the time I shoot myself in the foot and don't ever make much progress.

Do you suppose that may have something to do with the problems you are having?

No, what was said that I referred to was right in this thread, probably because you do not post much, but I did remember you quite well, because it is not often that my experience with atheists comes up, and it is a good reminder for me as well. I did apologetics on that level over a period of eight years before I came here, and learned quite a bit, not the least of which was how much some non believers really hate us and are so hard hearted toward God... their end game seems to be to destroy our faith, and I really am glad you did not allow that to happen... some do not even need that outside influence so much, their own negativity and inability to lean on Him will do the job for them :( However, with God all things are possible, all things of His plan and design :)

Heh, I actually thought last night about getting eyebrows tattooed hehee, not seriously, just a passing thought, I have no tats at all, not even any ears pierced, not for reasons of purity or anything like that, they just never appealed to me really, but like I said, I am used to not having noticeable eyebrows, and after forty years like this, why worry about it now? You may be making too big a deal of it yourself, after all.

Oh okay. I thought you meant someone actually said "No one here knows him".. I'm guessing you're talking about that Canadian chick that thought I was harassing people. I could be making a big deal out of my eyebrows but it really does get in the way of living life, especially after a year of it not getting any better.

You sound very sad and depressed. Even though life is sometimes horrible, that doesn't mean you can blame God, (though I admit that I've done that many times in the past), since he lets all things happen for our good. Note that I said GOOD. 1 Peter 1:7 says, " These (trials) have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed." John 16:33 says "I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world." Now, I know that God doesn't magically fix your problems. Sometimes He's silent, and sometimes the devil's attacks are continual and it seems hopeless. But you've got to have hope that God will pull through for you. Being angry at Him won't change the fact that he loves you and that he feels pain just like you have. You asked, "Why did God die for me? I didn't ask to be born!" Well, think about Jesus. I'll bet he LOVED the thought of going to earth, becoming a servant, putting off His Godly nature and becoming a human to die a horrible, torturous death on the cross. But He still did it. Doesn't that merit some small bit of thankfulness on our part?
I am thankful for his death. I tend to belittle it and undermine it sometimes because I sort of think it was pointless for him to do that. But he did it anyway, so yes, it does merit thankfulness on my part.

Never mind forget what I said. I say stupid crap when I'm upset. I'm very, very thankful for his death. I just don't understand God a lot of the time.

If I decided to stop following Jesus would he throw me in hell when I die?
If you are his, you cannot leave him (even if you want to.)

If you aren't his, then you can leave, in which case, you were headed for hell for all you've done all along.

If you think the grand total of following God is to get the Eternal Vacation Plan, were you ever his?

Warning: Three times in my life, I decided to stop following him. Three times hell was the least of my problems! Now became much worse.

By the end, all I learned was summed up with "Boy, am I STUPID!!!"

I can get mad at God all I want, he's still going to get me where he wanted me. The real choice in life, for those who are chosen by God are, how do you want to get there -- by ship or by fish belly? Fish belly -- as uncomfortable as it gets.
