the prodigal son did not have discipline (until after he returned to his father).
the woman caught in adultery did not have discipline (until after Yahshua forgave her sin, and told her go and sin no more lest she become much worse off than before).
the priests had very very very strict discipline. they had command of over 20 languages and all Torah memorized.
Jesus told them they had great discipline in scripture, and thought they could find life there -- but they didn't recognize LIFE standing right in front of them and rejected the KING, MESSIAH they were waiting for that all Scripture talks about.....
so their discipline, stronger than perhaps anyone else's, did them no good. (unless they repented, like Shaul who became Paul by Yahweh's PLAN and PURPOSE and GRACE in YAHSHUA).
discipline does no good if it is not like king david's - a man after God's Own Hearth - and the ekklesia in the NT - who willingly and JOYOUSLY DIED instead of denying Jesus - their WHOLE HEART was enthralled with MESSIAH YAHSHUA (Jesus the Messiah), and they wouldn't even think of denying him, even to save their own life or house or possessions.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------- Jesus disciples in the NT --------------------
--------------------------------------------------- most of them didn't have enough discipline to stay with him. when the cost to follow him became too great for them, they left him.
those
who
walked away from him and did not return, lost their life.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------- humble.......
if someone 'try' to be humble, they're not humble (yet).
apart from as a gift from God in heaven, no one is able to be righteously disciplined nor humble.
discipline in Christ Jesus is rare, is a gift, and is necessary for life. (strict discipline is needed for life)
humility in Christ Jesus is rare, is a gift, and is necessary for life. (God is opposed to the proud).
