One topic I'm needing to look into more is self discipline. You may share some verses (and advice) down below if you'd like about self discipline.

Any additional verses (advice) you'd like to share can be about becoming more humble (letting go of pride).

1 Corinthians 9:24 .) Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 .) And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26 .) I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 .) But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

2 Timothy 1:7 .) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Galatians 5:22 .) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 .) Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Titus 2:11 .) For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 .) Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Hebrews 13:5 .) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
6 .) So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

the prodigal son did not have discipline (until after he returned to his father).

the woman caught in adultery did not have discipline (until after Yahshua forgave her sin, and told her go and sin no more lest she become much worse off than before).

the priests had very very very strict discipline. they had command of over 20 languages and all Torah memorized.
Jesus told them they had great discipline in scripture, and thought they could find life there -- but they didn't recognize LIFE standing right in front of them and rejected the KING, MESSIAH they were waiting for that all Scripture talks about.....

so their discipline, stronger than perhaps anyone else's, did them no good. (unless they repented, like Shaul who became Paul by Yahweh's PLAN and PURPOSE and GRACE in YAHSHUA).

discipline does no good if it is not like king david's - a man after God's Own Hearth - and the ekklesia in the NT - who willingly and JOYOUSLY DIED instead of denying Jesus - their WHOLE HEART was enthralled with MESSIAH YAHSHUA (Jesus the Messiah), and they wouldn't even think of denying him, even to save their own life or house or possessions.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------- Jesus disciples in the NT --------------------
--------------------------------------------------- most of them didn't have enough discipline to stay with him. when the cost to follow him became too great for them, they left him.
those
who
walked away from him and did not return, lost their life.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------- humble.......

if someone 'try' to be humble, they're not humble (yet).

apart from as a gift from God in heaven, no one is able to be righteously disciplined nor humble.

discipline in Christ Jesus is rare, is a gift, and is necessary for life. (strict discipline is needed for life)
humility in Christ Jesus is rare, is a gift, and is necessary for life. (God is opposed to the proud).

Since I completely trust the Holy Spirit who helps guide, inspire, restrain, and gives me the power to do what is the right thing to do life has become much more easier. I feel we are in partnership, and as I choose to say NO to those things that I know are wrong, I sense a new empowering inside of me. Every time I deny myself, it becomes easier to do the next time.

Jesus told us to pick up our crosses and follow Him. Self denial is our cross to bear and Jesus knew it would be not be easy so He gives us His Spirit to live in our Spirit and enable us to do just that. To have self discipline means that you will allow yourself to suffer in doing so. It also means greater freedom for you. You will no longer be in bondage to something that is only hurting you or others.

Keep thanking the Lord that you He has given you the ability to be self disciplined. Begin calling yourself "self disciplined", and you will soon show evidences of it.

Humility is something that is almost always learned the hard way (at least, it was for me). I believe God hates pride more than any other sin, since this is what brought down the angels and man, so He is more active in removing it from His children's lives. When we are brought down to Earth in shame/regret perhaps because of some mistake or facing a our hidden flaws, this is when we should repent of our arrogance and submit to the Lord.

On the topic of pride, offhand I can think of Ecclesiastes and Job being helpful. Ecclesiastes demolishes any sense of self-glory as it shows that we all are born the same and we die with none of our earthly achievements. Job, on the other hand, elevates God and illustrates the gulf that is between us and Him - even the stars obey His command without question or complaint. This brings the sacrifice of Christ into perspective and really underscores His love for us. How can the God of gods love us so greatly, when we are less-than-ants yet still feel as though we can say, "No, I will not!"? Hopefully this realization inspires you and all of us to turn from pride and ambition and serve Him.

Matthew 25:40

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Putting this into practice has helped me be more sensitive to the needs of others and shown me how truly blessed I am........
that's humbling.
