no but the heart behind the words or action does. is it spoken out of love or out of a desire for contention and strife?

Is it a cry for help or a method of oppression and guilt tripping?

because I've seen it happen when two people say or do the exact same thing but mean it two totally different ways and for two totally different motives.

For example if you have two people attending church. they both do all the motions but one does it because they love God and the other does it because they think it will make them look good and feel like they have to do it to keep their good fortune.

When something bad happens to both people, one will retain their faith in God and trust that God will help and listen to HIm.

the other will turn to more worldly solutions and "methods" to find solutions to their problems and may even curse God for their troubles.

I'm sure if you watch you will see it happen as well.

God is true. So Truth comes from God. And God does not change, so his word does not change. No. The situation doesn't change the truth.

Situational ethics is a slippery slope and can lead to all manner of false self-justification. Sometimes we do wrong when we don't see how we can do right without causing more harm than good. That doesn't change the reality of the action or the wrongness of it. When we do fail and do wrong we are wise to confess and repent as quickly as we can.
Sin is like mushrooms, it grows best in the dark and fed a lot of B.S. - take away the B.S. (the lie that it is not sin or that it is somehow OK) and bring it into the light (through admission of sin, seeking of counsel to find a better way to deal with similar situations in the future, and repentance) it just dries up into dust and blows away on the wind.

So lets say you and a friend are hanging out and she asks you something and the answer will end up hurting her. You lied to protect her. your heart was to keep her from getting hurt is lying still worng or because it was out of a good heart was it right?

Shades of gray is where the world wants to take you. They talk about subjective truth and such. Shades of gray is where the darkness is. If you turn around you will be looking into the light and there is no darkness there, no shades of gray. Does the Lord tell you the truth even though it may hurt? If so then you are obligated to do the same.

God Bless You

My personal thoughts are like grandpas. even if you have the right intentions doing the wrong thing its still wrong! Jesus tells us the truth even if we don't like it or if it hurts our feelings. He does it out of love and to save us. if you call your self a christian you should be christ like which means even if its difficult you have to do the right thing.

Speaking the truth in love is an art. If your heart is right, you may stumble but, you won't fall. It is never easy to speak painful truths to anyone, but especially to friends. Then again nobody promised it would be easy to walk the Christian walk either.
