This is the official CC poetry thread. Reply to it with your original poetry and have fun!

I'll get us started:

In the house that grandpa left me,
I am wandering down a hallway.
Paintings stare at me like judgmental strangers.
I hear a knock on the wall behind me.
Empty house, so what’s the danger?
I heard it loud, I heard it once.
“Who’s there?” I ask,
But no response.
Knock-knock I hear again.
The rattling of the candle sconce.
Now I am officially scared.
“Who’s there?” I ask,
But no response.
This night it seems will get much worse,
Who knows what ghoul this house does haunt?
In fear of this apparent curse,
“Be gone!” I say,
But no response.
Sheriff comes the morning after to investigate a few reports.
“What happened here?” his deputy asks him.
“No idea” the sheriff retorts.
He hears a voice from deep inside.
“Whose voice is that?” he asks just once.
“Are you alive?” he calls out, panicked.
Sadly, though, there’s no response.

Stitches on my chest
That pull each time I breathe
I used to hate the way it felt to wake up soaked in blood
Now I've learned it's best
To trust what I believe
I'll have to pray that I survive this next upcoming flood
Tugging on my back
A longing to return
Returning to a place in time when childhood still lived on
A talent that I lack
Like varnish on an urn
Is finding out a way to live without life going wrong

If...
by: me :D
If your heart is hurting,
I'll fix it.
If you need attention,
I'll give it.
If you need someone to care,
I'll do it.
If you let a tear fall,
I'll catch it.
If you're still scared,
I'll understand it.
If you give me your hand,
I'll hold it.
If you're giving your love,
I want it.
If you want me to leave you,
Forget it.

Repentance

Repent of my sins I must do.
For the Lord asks me too.
In haze of grey.
I am the clay.
The Lord does mold me.

I am new.
Remade and true.
The world will say.
The clay is different today.
Then the world will see.

The clay is no longer blue.
Appears a new hue.
What is this a play?
I say nay.
For this clay is on bended knee.
Bright shining and with a new que.

Robin Hood
By: Me :D
He stole from the rich,
He gave to the poor.
What a bunch of tish,
And old folklore.

I didn't believe them 'til I saw him,
When he climbed through my window that night.
O'er his face, his blond hair skimmed,
As he stood ther in the moons light.

"Go back to sleep." He whispered kindly.
His smile was radiant.
His blue eyes sparkled exitedly.
They'd never catch this miscreant.

This man was big,
Though not from the fat of wealth.
No, he's far from a pig,
But of strength and stealth.

Two soldiers run by, under Prince John's command.
But like a good man should,
Forever he'll stand.
For this is my tale of meeting Robin Hood.

Buffy (2000-2012)
J.S.
You once were here, but now you’re gone
I don’t know how I shall move on
Now I am weak, I once was strong
You have left me, but you’re at peace
Your heart was hurting, now mine does too
I don’t know how we’re going to live without you
You’ve left us for good, not a thing we can do
You have left us, but you’re at peace
No more walks, no more hugs
No more biscuits chewed up on the rugs
A heart like an angel’s, a face like a pug’s
We won’t forget you, now that you’re at peace

Proclaim the Name

I charge you this day
To proclaim the name of Jesus
I charge you this day
To go before people and say
I love the Lord Jesus Christ
He hath redeemed my soul
He is my keeper
He hath given me a place to go
I know that Jesus Christ is the son of God
He will not let me fall
But He will lead me hand and hand
To His promised land
So stand firm in the faith
Against the principalties of darkness
And the world so numb
Raise your hands and praise the Lord
For one day He shall come

This poem was the first christian poem I wrote, Written aprox 5 days after I was saved in 1994.

I thought I had lost this forever. Praise God poetry.com still had in their database.
The March 2004 Editor's Choice Award for International Library of Poetry. Praise Jesus Proclaim the Name poem recovered.

A Homeless Man’s Journal Entries
J.S.
Slept in cold moonlight on a winter street
Wept in darkness at my sad circumstance
Kept in time with an old man’s steady beat
Playing bucket-drums with his aged hands
Swept away by the haunted, icy breeze
Stepped away from good Mr. Well-to-do
Crept away from him in the bitter freeze
Praying for only a nickel or two
Prepped for yet another dark, snowy night
Leapt for a chance to eat left-over scraps
Wept for myself and my friends’ daily fight
Staying in boxes like mice in their traps
Perished in silence, all thanks to the cold
Perished in loneliness, starving and old

I wrote this poem to celebrate my 6 yrs of sobriety

Clean and sober this is year number six
There's no addiction that God Cant fix
In this church, I've grown and flourished
I thank you all who Prayed and encouraged

Sometimes it's still a thorn in my side
But in God's peace I stand and abide
I have to stay strong some way some how
Because I've come too far to turn back now

So keep this in mind for 2012
Sometimes we must encourage ourselves
I know some things are hard to bear
But we have a place to cast our cares

I dont know what you're going through
But I know you fight and struggle too
Somethings aren't meant to be understood
But remember it all works together for good

Light of the World

Strange love
soaring like a heavenly dove
Deep within this love takes root
All around you begin to see branches shoot

No need to fear
look all around the Lord your God is near
Once upon a time
there was a traveling preacher who liked to ryhme.

He would walk and talk
speak of the love of God and draw with chalk.
He would tell stories and parables
He would listen and He would say narratables.

When He would talk
some would listen
some would squak
some would even sulk

He knew something that all listeners did not know
God the Father wants them all to surrender, So they can grow.
As the days prolonged some would stay some would go
All were certain that God the Father He did know

However, they could not surrender their ego or pride
So they snatched Him up and took Him for a ride
They Crucified Him on calvary's tree
Then the signs and wonders they did see.

The Holy of Holies was ripped in half
The skys parted and the earth quaked
All wondered for what this world had raked.

Then some beheld risen prophets of old
Walking and talking and many begin
to believe what they had been told

Then the third day the eleven did behold
The resurrected man just like He had foretold

The Key OF Light

The key of light is in the darkness and yet I can’t reach it.
I'm stuck in this darkness and I hate myself for it.
They say if you think hard enough you can change the world.
I wonder if I can change this hell hole called earth and come out of the darkness forever.

To get rid of the darkness I have to find the key of light.
But how will I reach it? I wonder if I think hard enough if I can get the key of light to come to me.
As I start to focus and enhance my energy from within.
As I start to focus my mind, body, heart and soul I can see the key of light getting closer and closer to me.

As I get there I get stopped by my own hatred for the world
and suddenly I can’t move at all.
And something told me the only way I can get to the key of light is if I forgive not just one person,
but to forgive everyone.

And as I let go of every emotion and started to forgive people
I started to get weak and started to rise towards the key of light.
I Felt a tremendous amount of pressure that were from issues and concerns,
start to leave from my shoulders.

And the turmoil I had stored inside was no longer there and when I reached the key of light I knew life had just begun..

Forget. Forgive.

Forget me not.
Forgive me not.
It's up to you.
Hold on tight or let me through.
Let go of the memories.
Release all the pain.
The longer you remember, The longer it stays the same.
Make a new life.
Make a new home.
Make new memories.
Make me unknown.
Forget me.
Forgive me.

Mind Games

There's something the matter
with my gray matter.
When half the time,
even I don't know my mind.
But it knows me.
It knows how to confuse me.
Knows how to abuse me.
And when it's nice, amuse me.
When I think I understand,
it gains the upper hand.
(By making me say something stupid)
It's really not my fault
If I don't make sense.
It's this brain of mine,
It leaves me in suspense.

Just let go

7 July 2010 7:36 AM

Hanging on to yesterday and many days before

I was holding by my fingertips, what ifs and whys galore

So afraid of failing and falling I surely felt my doom

I cried for help to anyone please come and save me soon

People came and tried to help but I could not understand

It was if they were speaking a language from a foreign land

Then just as it seemed hopeless, and that my life was at an end

Someone reached not down for me but up their helping hand

I took that hand who did not speak but smiled more and more

And when I let go I then realized I was only two feet off the floor

In memory of Vanessa Triplett

It's hard to find the words to say
About the people that God sends our way
I remember just a few years ago
The day I stopped to say hello

I invited you to church with me
And I was thrilled that you agreed
A stranger walking down the street
Was a friend God wanted me to meet

We both worshiped God on one accord
And sang our praises to the Lord
I could see your heart was full of praise
And that you gave God glory in all your days

I enjoyed the fellowship we shared
And I want you to know I always cared
I will always have fond memories
Of the the encouragement you spoke to me

I thank God for you all the while
I will always miss your friendly smile
It hurts to see our friends depart
But I will always keep you in my heart
