I saw the first episode I think but cos I already read the Bible I had a few issues with how it portrayed Jesus so didnt really bother watching the rest.

Mostly I thought it was a bit overacted (hammy) and not believable. eg one of the shepherds was lame and dragging a goat around by the rope around its neck and it was just over the top. A real shepherd would not do that.

In season 3 episode 2, Lil James asks Jesus why He hasn't healed his limp and Jesus tells him 'his testimony will be how he still praised God even with his ailment'. This is not in the Bible.

Haven't watched any of this season yet, but what you posted is a little disconcerting.

There are NO instances where Jesus didn't heal someone.

This seems to be a mixture of THIS passage:

John 9
New King James Version

A Man Born Blind Receives Sight
9 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. 4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.

You'll note that Jesus DID heal him.

And Paul praying 3 times and not healed. Of course Paul's situation is yrs after Jesus' ascension.

Are you sure He didn't heal him after reciting that? Or, could it be for a set healing in a different episode?

Yes, one should take care not to invent too much. One understands that, to adapt the Gospel to the Big Screen, some minor adaptations may be needed, but one should strive to stick as closely as possible to the Scriptures. I still support the Chosen, because it's the best Multi Season Series on Jesus Christ out there. If someone makes a better one, I'll support that also.

I liked the John 3 scene where Christ explains the Gospel to Nicodemus, and the Miracle of the Fish Scene. I posted that earlier. But there is still so much Biblical Material that could be covered, at least from the first three Gospels. So far, they've done John 2, the Wedding at Cana, John 3, Christ's preaching of the Gospel to Nicodemus, and John 4, the Samaritan Woman. I think they also did John 5, but I'm not 100% sure whether the healing of the paralytic that they did was the Bethesda one.

I'll have to check that. Anyway, here's the Samaritan woman scene. This one closely follows the Gospel Record:

Yup, found it. The scene first, and then some comments from viewers on You Tube.

I would say the Series is 80% Good, and 20% ok. The 20% of it could be improved.

This is John 5, Healing at Bethesda:

Comments in the Link:

1) One small detail I love about this scene is how Matthew isn't writing anything down for the first time. He's just enjoying the moment, meanwhile John takes out his book and is writing notes. If you look at the Gospels you'll notice that the story of the man in the pool is in the Gospel of John, but not Matthew. Such a neat little detail that so easily explains why some stories are in one Gospel but not another.

2)
I have late stage ALS and this scene breaks me everytime I watch it. I've had so many 'really bad days' in the last 8 years and Jesus's response to him is so tender and understanding that it just overwhelms me. I know he sees me, loves me and has a plan for me. He is El Roi, the God who sees...just like he saw Nathaniel.

3)
I can’t even explain how much I loved this scene. Struggling with addiction for a long time, I felt like Jesus was speaking directly to me. I watch this every time I want to relapse and it reminds me… “you only need [Jesus]”

You are my new show and movie critic. Your first assignment is to come up with a rating system. Thumbs have already been used but I have confidence in your abilities to perform this task. Maybe two crosses up. Perhaps 2 empty tombs. Just spit balling to get your creative juices flowing.

This mission is yours if you choose to accept it. This post will self destruct in 5 seconds. Good luck soldier.

Welcome to the late night show with Eli.
Today we are going to talk about the new movie chosen , right Greg?

Greg - That’s right Eli, this movie is phenomenal and it has been seen by half a billion people so far, can you imagine that?
Eli - Yeah it’s crazy Greg, this kinda Christian message has not reached so many people before.
Greg - this movie was also listed the third i believe in the box office after big names in Marvel movies. It’s incredible.
Eli- That’s right Greg, people are hungry for this kinda message and especially when it’s not diluted with the lens of the Hollywood.
Greg - Indeed Eli, this is why this show is crowd founded.

Now, Let’s welcome to the studio Jonathan Roumie.

*Applause.

Praise the Lord!!! The Gospel is reaching millions through this show, as Eli mentioned. Let's all join hands and continue to pray for its wider success as well, so that the Gospel may soon reach the ends of the Earth.

Hmm... This seems thematically dissonant. It doesn't sound like the kind of thing Jesus would say.

If they're going to put words in Jesus' mouth, I wish they would at least try harder. I mean, even I could have done better. Instead of his testimony being how he praised God even with his ailment, it could have been, "Your testimony will be that you find joy in God even though life is not perfect."

That might not be what Jesus would say (shoot, I for one can't say I can read God's mind) but it sounds a lot closer at least.

I was caught up in the pandemonium of this episode when this scene emerged. I had to replay it a few times to make sure I heard what I heard. It's startling that their Jesus said he wanted Lil James to listen very carefully, then went on to give the impression that, while lots will be healed, he(their Jesus) trusted Lil James to praise God even though not being healed. To viewers who don't know the Word, how will they know if Jesus' Word/Blood will heal them or should they suffer for a while. This is a big deal, esp for me who have been watching healing ministries lately like Charles and Frances Hunter. She would flip over this scene as she has healed people on the brink of death, through the name of Jesus. Unless I missed something, this seems blasphemous. Glad you see my point, many on the comment line thought the scene explained why they haven't been healed.

Well, why hasn't God/Jesus healed all the amputees in the world? Even in the Pool of Bethesda, there were many ill - He healed only one: "3 Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. 5 One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 5 One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” " (John 5:3-6)

So this man had to wait 38 years for God to give him his healing. And many others who were there were never healed at all.

Imo, one thing is to pray to God: "Lord I want to be healed, whether it is Your Will or not". or, alternatively, "Lord, for myself, I really want to be healed by You, yet not my will but Yours be done".

God Bless.

I understand what you're saying and I will continue to watch The Chosen. Where we differ is I believe it's God's will to heal all sick, as sickness is not of God. Isa 53 says 'Surely He took our diseases...' and requoted in the NT. Jesus said many times 'You're faith has made you whole' and at the pool, perhaps He was showing others to believe in Him and be healed. I realize they are promoting the Gospels but as some others commented, 'This exchange was way off'. God bless you too and please know I am not bashing the whole series, just can't approve this scene.
