I actually do have a few examples, I used to supervise a website that was frequented by children. I recall one time someone asked the name of a game the Iroquois Indians used to play, and they were answered with "Boogly boogly boo". I wanted to delete the answer but for all I knew that was the actual name, so I had to do some research first. It was kind of funny, sitting there Googling "Iroquois Indians boogly boogly boo".
How many hits does Google give for that?

(And I want people to notice I'm too lazy to do the homework myself. lol)

Perhaps they trust us more than they trust counselors, therapists, and doctors. Or maybe they ask us because it doesn't cost them anything.
And you always get what you pay for. lol

This one time, I was playing a game online. Ah, the days when I knew next to nothing about computers...

I was in the in-game chat rooms, and had asked a technical question about my computer. Someone in chat responded with some guidelines. I replied, "Cool, thanks! I'll give that a try."

In my naivete - bless it - I took his advice and ran the command lines he told me to try... AND FORMATTED MY HARD DRIVE. Thankfully my dad knew how to reinstall Windows at that time, so I was back up and running in a day or two.
Ah, the old F5 gag. I gave up cluing the newbies in on that joke simply because it was repeated every hour.

Maybe because they think some people here really care and want to help, although most people don't really care but they have other intentions.
I agree and this happens in life as well doesn't have to be the Internet speaking of doesn't a lot of what happens on forms happen out in the street as well if it's real people chatting and not bots.

F5 simply refreshes (reloads) the browser. What's that got to do with reformatting a hard drive?

I read this one a while back a person went online on ask jeeves I believe and asked why wont my parakeet eat my Diarrhea? the only response he got was why are you trying to feed your parakeet your diarrhea? the op responded that's not the question i asked.

This cracked me up and I was sure this guy was trolling but as I don't like to take things by appearance I did some research. Apparently in some cases a tame bird will not attain proper nutrition from just its mundane bird seed and will turn to eating its own stool for what nutrients might have been missed out on by its digestive system. It is feasible that human diarrhea contains much more unused nutrients.

It is possible that this was a troll question however evidence also suggests that this was a serious question

I got some good dating advice online. They all said unanimously: don't go to dating sites anymore!!! And they taught me what a Nigerian prince was. This guy wants to give me some hundred thousands. It sounds weird don't you think? Yes it does!!!
