Was the monkey on the left thinking "Hey, he got a grape! Why did he get a grape when all I get is this lousy cucumber slice?" or was he thinking "Hey whoa, I didn't notice that! There are GRAPES at stake here?!"

I don't think it's unequal payment the monkey is protesting. I think he's just not getting what he wants. I'd be interested in seeing an extension of that study where BOTH are aware there are grapes and they are offered cucumber slices instead.
The first part of the video showed them both getting cucumber slices.
And everyone was happy even though that tub of grapes were sitting there the whole time.

But once the grapes were given to one and not the other..those cucumber slices were getting thrown back at the handler.

What this has to do with us what happens when you focus more on hiring new staff than employee retention. New employees are paid more than existing staff...and existing staff finally gets a raise to meet the level of pay the new staff is getting paid.
It devalues the existing staff. And they revolt.
The worst thing that can happen is that the existing staff is given no raise at all and makes less than new staff.

Then ALL seasoned and trained staff quit.

Yeah I never have subscribed to that ideology. I'm not even sure exactly how much I make per hour. It's enough for what I need and the job is pretty easy so... *shrug

I know the parable about the workers who all got paid the same wage for working different hours was referring to salvation and heaven, but it applies to working life too. I am paid what the owner agreed to pay me for the work I agreed to provide, so that's about all I need.

I still don't think it proves what they are trying to claim it proves unless they go from grapes to cucumbers and both monkeys are happily eating cucumbers.

Great. Now I have spent way too much time thinking about how one might arrange the test to conclusively prove it one way or the other.

This is just a hunch but... I get the STRONG impression you are currently employed and feel very strongly that you should be making more than you make.
I'm almost 81 years old, been retired for almost 20 years, and don't need a pay raise.

IMHO, anyone who doesn't pay his employees a living wage is a worse government mooch than those who stay at home and draw unemployment.

yea but the lady working at mcdonalds then doesnt have time at home to spend with HER own children.
Or what she then pays someone else to look after her children? Or does she just leave them to play in the mcds playground while shes working overtime,

doesnt make sense.

Maybe both parents should work at mcds in shifts. And feed their children leftover burgers to save money...and live in the Ronald Macdonald house.

I dont know Ive never worked at Maccas I dont know if the employees get much benefits.

She's got a baby daddy who pays for daycare.
