...all that could be heard was the sound of a soft voice, so soft it was almost a whisper..."there is still time to turn back...there is still time...turn around and go back where you came from..."
"Hush! You mustn't interfere! Let them align their own destinies!" murmured a harsher voice.
"It is not the way...it is not our way...they must be warned..."
"They will do as destiny sees fit! We will not interfere Ssomi, let them proceed!"
"It isn't right to sacrifice them for our..."
"SSHHHH!!!! They will hear you! The wrath that will fall upon you will be wretched indeed! Please Ssomi, please, hush..."
The forest once again fell silent. John, Aksel and SheWolf turned in all directions. They could see nothing but dense fog all around them. They all knew they had heard the rushed conversation, but there was no one within sight, and as the fog that quickly came began to dissipate, so did the conversation between the two dissembodied entities.
"Well, okay, then...that wasn't weird or anything" said John
"What just happened?" asked Aksel
Shewolf whined and looked around nervously, barking a complaint. "What's wrong?" John asked her. The wolf tucked her tail between her legs and began to walk in circles.
"Why isn't she answering?" asked Aksel.
"I don't know," answered John, "it's hard to keep her quiet half the time, I don't know what her deal is. This, all of this, is just too weird. Are you gonna tell us what's wrong or not?" said John, eying the wolf, which continued to whine and pace.
"Let's just go," said Aksel, "let's go find the others before that fog comes back and let's get out of this island. I've had enough adventure for one day."
