Oh Oh me me (hands up in classroom)!
Sorry you have just pushed by preachy button, but tell me to shut up if you want.
I have met and witnessed to a number of Asian people and I can tell you from experience that there is a lot of hurting people out there who want more than their religion can give them, there is a real hunger for something else. But for many of these captives (and that is what they are) they find it hard to escape or even consider the possibility of going against everything they have been brought up to believe. But you can see the hunger and desire in them for more.
During one journey to church the taxi driver started talking about God. He knew the Koran back to front and told me he was a leader in his local community but he just wanted more. Once we got to church we spent 20 mins outside talking about Jesus and he even agreed that I could pray for him - this was just after 9/11 there was no one more surprised than me. But it was clear that he was not satisfied with what his own beliefs had to offer.
In our church we have a mum and tots group 4 days a week, every week there are a handful of Asian women who come!
In one service I found myself sitting next to an Asian man sobbing his heart out. He said he had never heard such words and wanted a bible to read for himself, so I gave him mine.
I could go on and on. The Asian community are so open to the Gospel, more than you might ever imagine. Yes there are violent people out there but this is the case the world over, regardless of race, beliefs, etc. Even Christians have been violent you only have to look at history.
Don't ever think these dear captives are beyond setting free because of what you see and hear in the news. They are so open and in my experience are more than receptive to Godly discussions.
Oh and I have found them to be among the most hospitable people around.
