What do you think about choir competitions?

I have been seeing a lot of shows and commercials for choir and gospel competitions (i.e. Sunday Best). I know a lot of my friends and family who enjoy these, but I personally don't because I believe that God is not the one being glorified in them; the competitors are being glorified. Any thoughts?

I agree completely. Choirs in church are to praise God. If you want to have a contest, join the SPEBSQSA or some such organization.

btw, SPEBSQSA is now the Barbershop Harmony Society. I guess they figured is was easier to remember!

But I agree with you -- those choir competitions to nothing to glorify God IMHO. The purpose of the choir is to praise and worship God and to bring others into worship to Him.
