What do you do if a coworker says oh I have the perfect gift for you ..but you had not intended on buying them a gift. So what do you do ?????
now that they made you aware that they bought you something .

I'm looking forward to some great responses.
Thanks

To keep from possibly offending that person, proper mannerism dictates that you must buy that person a present.

But then again, if the person did it out of Godly love, love does not dictate obligation.

But then again.....

My simple advice is humble yourself greatly before them by being appreciative and thankful, that's something that person might first look forward too. I know I would. A happy receiver is better than a heart-broken giver in my opinion.

That can be a tough one. I have had that happen in the past and I went and bought the person a gift but, it did not feel right because it was not from the heart (if that makes sense). I am a random gift giver. If I see something that I know a friend will like, I buy it for them and I expect/want nothing in return. I enjoy finding that meaningful gift for a friend any time of the year. Sorry, I know I am not giving you solid advice on this. Like I said, you are in a tough situation. Have you prayed about it? What does your heart tell you to do?

DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

(until you see just how "perfect" the gift is..................... :), then do what you think is best)

i have been in this situation before and at that time i bought the person a gift, but i think people let you know ahead of time that they have a gift for you so that you get them one. but then you really don't know how much to spend or what to get them , what if they don't like it........

Hi flowerof3
If a person told me that they had the perfect gift for me I would tell them in a loving way that I had not planned to buy them anything, and when you are honest in truth and the person knows that you meant exactly what you said the next time they will know what to expect;they will know what to expect anytime they ask or suggest something. The honest truth is hard for people to give to other people because they don't want to hurt peoples feelings,When the truth (in my opinion) is a godly trait.

It depends. Sometimes I've said, "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't get you anything..." and then I trail off, and their response is almost always, "Oh, pfftt that's fine! I wasn't expecting anything, I just saw this and immediately thought of you so I bought it."

Many people don't necessarily expect gifts in return, though that also depends on the type of relationship you have with that person.
