We all face our own temptations and struggle against different sin. Though it may manifest differently for each of us, the battle is the same. So, what are some effective ways that you have found to deal with those temptations and sin? Be as specific as you can. What Scriptures and practical applications have proven to be powerful weapons in your Battle?

These are some of the things that have been a big help to me.

Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness provides a perfect example.
Hebrews 4:14-16
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Satan tempts us to sin when we are at our weakest moment that's why it's important to be on guard spiritually to overcome his tricks. Jesus overcame with the word of God thus by renewing our mind with God's word we will be able to defeat the devil. Prayer is important too; Jesus said we ought to pray for the strength against temptation for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Another way to overcome is to identify the source of temptation and eliminate it (this is the difficult part), be it TV, movies, and whatnot, get rid of them (see Matthew 18:8-9). Finally, remember that God's superabundant grace is always available for believers to overcome temptation.:)

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

I have placed myself in situations where naturally, I was going to be tempted to sin. So, now, after a long period of time and being tired and shameful allowing the devil to use this way, less and less I find myself not putting myself in situations where I will be tempted. I do this by rebuking the thought (because it comes into our minds first) right away and completely changing my thinking. Sometimes that means singing a song of praise instead of that thought, going into prayer at that moment, calling someone encouraging...eventually, you learn to do what you have to resist the temptation. Lingering on the temptation is what will continue to draw me to it. But if I resist as the scripture says, and right away...less and less I find myself giving into temptation. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 // Neither give place to the devil. Eph 4:27 (that is the lingering on the temptation part, that one must not do).

Run far far away and pray. Just leave the room and go somewhere and pray. Pull out a bible for extra stain fighting power.

If you're out in public and you can't leave the room, then think about something else. If it's anger, it's even easier, just pray that God would bless them.

When someone cuts me off in traffic, I just say "Jesus please bless them and theirs." I haven't figured out what to do if they're a slow driver in front of me going 20 under the speed limit though, that one is a toughie.

Temptation Is my worst enemy, out of all the sins this one is my weakest strength. I actually have not made much progress with overcoming this particular sin, but if it works like the way I rebuke cuss words in my mind I bet Jesus and I can overcome it. For no reason at all sometimes bad words pop in my head, and in my mind I see it as the devil trying to mess with me and right as the word pop up in my mind I say( SHUT UP AND GO AWAY) and it does for a while

Yes I believe this as well, I often talk to god about these things. I find that no matter how many times I stumble or fall I refuse to give up knowing God will make me stronger. I could have sworn I heard God say to me I am resilient one time, and said No God, If I ma resilient It is only because you made me so. My favorite motto Is keep moving forward, even in my darkest times even in my greatest despair I only know to keep moving forward. But when I see people struggle with their problems I have this amazing desire to help them, specifically here on CC. But for some reason it only backfires on me. I did all I could for three people on here who at first we talked all the time and made progress. But in the end it only ended in sadness and pain
