So I've been thinking about this a lot.........maturity. I'm 20 years old and I know quite a few later teens tend to be more mature than obviously a child. But what point do you realize that ''you aren't acting immature and that you are mature?'' and what makes someone mature? because to me I don't feel mature at all. I mean compared to a child I'm matured. and I know there are levels of maturity but what would you say makes someone mature?

Read I Timothy and II Timothy. Timothy was a young man when Paul was writing those letters to him. GOD did not mean those letters just to be to Timothy, but to all young adults and teens. Those two books tell you exactly what maturity is.

.........age, experience, gaining wisdom/knowledge through study, trials, life living, laughing, crying, joy, sorrow, being a friend when one is needed, needing a friend and being willing to ask..............all of these, and more........

There are different "maturities" one can speak of...........Physical, Spiritual, and such..........but, in the end, maturity comes down to this...........

"I already been there, done that, and got the T-Shirt son, your just watching reruns."

:)

There's a Scripture that says "there is nothing new under the sun............" Don't remember the exact location, but you can google it and read.

Lol. Who could top that answer?

One thing that helped me realized I was mature is when I stopped wondering when I was going to be mature. By that time I wished I could be a kid again.

I'm 32 and I'm more mature than I was when I was 20. I've matured enough to know my parents really aren't stupid. I've matured enough that I'm able to raise my son and out him before my own needs.
Am I fully mature? Nah, I don't think that's possible. But my maturity certainly hasn't grown into the beautiful wisdom of my elders.

The best mature level you can acquire is Christ's Maturity.Rest are all fake.
Denying oneself, and living for Christ(leads to Living for the lost and guide them to Him) takes us to Eternal Maturity(Heaven)
Exactly opposite is hell.
In between doesnt count, but every struggle to Maturity counts.
God Bless.i am sustained because God has ultimate/infinite Maturity.
It's all about Love,Endurance,Patience,Faitg,etc..

..............afterthought.............

One sure sign of reaching a "mature understanding" is when one can say........."The more I know, the more I realize how much I have to learn..........."

(well, in my opinion anyhoo............)

a fruit is mature when:

  • it's ready to be eaten (a man's standard)
  • its seeds are ready to grow into new plants (the tree's standard)

..............good............and how about..........

A Christian is mature when they are able to produce "fruit" for the Kingdom.

See Matthew 19:28........OOPS............that's Matthew 28:19!!!!! )

The bible says that GOD is not the author of confusion, and that he gave us the spirit of love, power and a sound mind

IMO a person will grow into maturity naturally when they always tell the truth, even if it offends
Its better to offend somone with the truth rather than smooth their feathers and abandon the truth.

Azriel, I would say that maturity comes not only with age, but with life experiences. How we act, how we talk, how we treat others. If we act with kindness and generosity, then we mature a little more. If we talk with intelligence and wiseness, then we mature. If we treat others the way that we expect to be treated, that makes us mature. There comes a time when children must enter the adult stage of their lives, and leave their ignorant, selfish childlike ways behind--kind of like a caterpillar entering its cocoon and emerging as a new butterfly. :) The old is gone, and the new is here. How we handle life matures us. How we handle difficult situations matures us. Listening to those wiser than us, and following their example, matures us. Hope this helps. :)

What does it take to become “mature” as a Christian ?

If you were to ask a number of people that question, you might get a number of different answers. Personally, I would say that someone begins to become mature as a Christian when he or she realizes that the ultimate purpose of life, for a Christian is not to find one’s destiny in personal fulfillment, but to find one’s destiny to serve God. That realization, and that decision to live for God and not for one’s self, is the dividing point. All spiritual growth find both its beginning and its end in the commitment to live for God and not for one’s self. Read more: Draw Near To God: The Mark of a Mature Christian

Hi there; regarding Christian maturity, prayer and the Scriptures are the vital elements in which the child of God inhabits, and there is no short cut, or sudden trick, for pursuing them.

Of course, what the world thinks of being clever and worldly wise, and Christian understanding are different things.

God bless His Word to you.
