I am going to assume you know what it is so I'll save time. As someone who is more central I always wanted to know where each side of the political spectrum fell with their opinions of this event. This happened a year before I was born and I've seen some docs about it but some either blame Weaver or blame the government, no in between. I may ask the other side just to get their perspective as well.

Well from the Utube video i just spent a little time watching.. I do not believe Christians should take part in armed rebellion against an Authority on Earth.. That is not to say i support earth Authorities.. Many of whom i think are corrupt and evil.. But i believe Christians should have over judgement of these evil Authorities to the LORD and be confident that God shall avenge them for the injustices that they face from Authorities..

The video i was watching did include a mention of the Waco incident and i know a lot about that evil slaughter of innocents carried out by the Authorities in Waco Texas.. I remember praying to God on that day about these men who had the blood of innocents on their hands..

Randy Weaver was acquitted of the charges made against him related to Ruby Ridge and his wife and son were murdered by govmint authorities. The family received 3.1 million in compensation for those murders. That's not right or left thinking, that's just the way it played out.

It's hard to have an educated position on a matter because we're not fed the truth by news sources, so unless you're there, it's nearly impossible to know.

I've never know anyone who is "central". From my experience most who claim that are liberal in nature.

Ruby Ridge was tragic and unnecessary, end of story.

Government over reach just like in Waco where government agents needless murdered American citizens.

All they had to do was wait till these guys went to town and take him out on the road somewhere.

That's not necessarily true because all the details came out in the criminal trial where the guy was acquitted and in the civil trial where the guy won several million dollar settlement.

In other words, the gubment LOST big time!

It was government over reach to the extreme. They tried to entrap Randy Weaver so they could arrest him, then changed court dates around so that he would "miss" his court date, then they staked out his little parcel of land to try to trap him.
They shot his boy's dog when the dog discovered them bedded down in the bushes... the boy, not knowing who they were just shot in their direction and tried to run back to the house. They shot him in the back and killed him, calling it "self defense"
Later during the standoff, Randy was outside the house, and his wife yelled at him to come back in. As he ran back in the house, they shot his wife in the head, killing her.... they said they just "missed" Randy. She was holding their infant child at the time.
Double murder, covered up as "good ATF work".....

Yep, death begats death

And they wonder why after this those other guys went and bombed the federal building in Oklahoma City!

True Christians of course don't go out and get revenge since Jesus said vengeance belongs to Him and He would repay (Romans 12:19)

But there are some folks that don't want to wait on the Lord to do his thing, so they go out and try to get some vengeance of their own.

The Bible tells us to submit to earthly authorities because they're in place for our good, and to punish evil. But, what happens when a government fails in that regard?

Also, here in the States the governmental authority is, ultimately, the people themselves. That is our system.

It was part government overreach but mostly poor planning and poor execution of what could have been a nothing investigation. Big screw up, innocent people were killed.

But I don't think it was more than that - just some run-of-the-mill government incompetence and overreaction.

Ruby_RidgeRuby Ridge - Wikipedia

(excerpt)

Ruby Ridge was the site of a siege of a cabin occupied by the Weaver family in Boundary County, Idaho in August 1992. It began on August 21, when deputies of the United States Marshals Service (USMS) came to arrest Randy Weaver under a bench warrant after his failure to appear on federal firearms charges.

During a surveillance operation, officer Art Roderick shot Weaver's dog when it ran at them and then pointed his rifle at Weaver's armed son Sammy. Sammy tried to fire back in the direction of the shots. Sammy was shot and killed by the team, and in the ensuing exchange of fire, Weaver's friend Kevin Harris shot and killed Deputy Marshal William Francis Degan. Weaver, Harris, and members of Weaver's immediate family refused to surrender. The Hostage Rescue Team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI HRT) became involved as the siege was mounted.[1] In the standoff, FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi shot Weaver, then shot Harris, but the second shot also hit and killed Weaver's wife Vicki. The conflict was ultimately resolved by civilian negotiators, and Weaver's old military acquaintance had to convince him to surrender. Harris surrendered and was arrested on August 30; Weaver and his three daughters surrendered the next day.

IMO: Both sides of this share in the blame. Mistakes were made from beginning to end by both.

The 2nd amendment clearly give us the right to keep and bare arms and the supreme court has upheld the 2nd amendment as being very valid.

A lot of crazy democrats like the 2nd amendment to and if there is ever an other civil war it will be the democrats that start it!

Ya think? ...... an armed assault on the private property of someone that had done nothing even remotely dangerous, other than being a little odd in his beliefs... where his son and his wife are murdered by governtment snipers.... so you think that just maybe the gov't went a little too far? If they had carpet bombed that side of the mountain.... then you would agree they went too far? SMH
