Matthew 27:31-32King James Version (KJV)
31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.
The physical cross that Jesus was carrying was getting pretty heavy. And you have to remember, Jesus was badly beaten, beaten to a pulp. So he didn't have the strength he needed to carry it.
The Bible tells us that the soldiers saw a man named Simon, and they force him to help Jesus to carry the cross.
I believe that the Father looked down at his son struggling with the cross, and placed Simon there at the right time. The soldiers thought that they were the ones forcing Simon to help Jesus carry the cross, but I believe it was actually the Father having mercy on his Son, and out of his mercy, Simon was "compelled".
Sometimes in life, it seems like that we get beaten to a pulp, and we are force to carry a heavy cross. The Father sees our struggling, and He will send a Simon to help us. And when a Simon does come along, we need to swallow our pride, and accept the help. Because pride can get in the way, if we allow it.
