As I've said before, I think I'm done. I try to like one, and then get shot down for liking them. So, I'm through.
I Understand that frustration Danacovert82 when a thread is started people don't have to respond to it but we are human and sometimes respond with what's on our minds and if it derails the thread it may not have been intentional because the person may have been so focused on a post in the thread that they forget about the guidelines of the OP.
Don't let it get to you brother.

Okay. I'm being hasty. I'm doing what I said I wasn't going to do. What? Put the white flag up and say,"you win." I'm going to like Creflo Dollar. Yeah, he may or may not have done what he done, but that's only between him and God. The media blows things up.

Okay. I respect those who said that they don't like them. Your choice. As it's others choice to like them. And before you ask it: I don't go to church. Not that I don't want to. I just can't find the right one here. So, I use Creflo Dollar as my pastor. I like him, and that's my choice. Matthew 7:1-2,"judge not lest ye be judged."
Sorry this isn't a attack on you personally just a personal pet peeve I don't like. The whole judge not verse is always misused and taken out of context. Here is a little more-

7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

It is telling us not to judge others hypocritically, not saying never judge at all. We couldn't form an opinion or ever get anything done at all if we never judged anything. It says remove the plank from your own eye first before making a judgement, not never make a judgement ever. That's the only point I wanted to make, thanks.

Isn't that the same guy who asked for $65 million in donations so he could get his own private jet?
Powerful! And your reply isn't even a statement.

Imagine a man claiming to be a Bible teacher asking for $65 MILLION Dollars from folks so he can buy a new private jet.

Appalling.

I'm ending this reply. As the apostle Paul says, "Be ye angry and sin not."

Guys, he may or may not have asked for money. I'm not defending him. I'm just saying this to say, God knows whether or not he did/does anything wrong. Just like with us non celebrities.

Hard to say. In my opinion, a Televangelist is someone professing to be an Evangelist and is on TV. I can't think of anyone currently on TV in that category that I would even watch, much less recommend.

A Church Pastor whose Sermons are broadcast on TV for numerous reasons is a different category in my opinion. Of those, the late Adrian Rogers was one of my favorites. There are a couple of locals that no one would know that are ok too.

Billy Graham is in a category all by himself in my opinion. Have not heard many Sermons from either his son or daughter, but if they are a chip off the old block, I suspect they would be pretty good to watch. I know Franklin does a lot of good Missions Work around the world.

We have a local church that broadcasts on TV. I might watch them and see if I like them for now.

I guess I opened a can of worms.
Yeah, I'm sorry to say you did. I don't think you did anything wrong, but, well...different strokes for different folks, and folks here are very vocal about their strokes.

All the best to you in finding a God centered church that you feel comfortable in!

John Hagee is an adulterer and preaches hersey.
He is in for the money.
Rick Warren is also in it for the money.

I think JennaLeanne was being sarcastic when she said that.

The one I enjoy listening to is Joel Osteen because I feel encouraged every time I hear his sermons that I can go out and spread the good news. However, the only thing I wish he would do is read more out of scripture. I have also heard that Billy Graham is awesome.

I may have to get back into Joel. I also like Joyce Meyer. She tells the story about how she was abused as a child from her father.

I've been into Joel Osteen before, but now I'm back into him. And I'm of course into Creflo Dollar still. Not weird to be into more than one evangelist.

Yeah, he's okay. The Harvest America thing at the baseball stadiums here is a neat event, and the only major God-centered one I know of that's local.

I would warn you about Joel Osteen as he is a prosperity teacher and not a bible teacher, and he also has backed Oprah Winfrey's new age church that denies that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.

That being said though not all TV evangelists are bad as some put them out to be, and some do preach good things but all of them are not perfect as none of us are. So there will always be something somebody will pull out to use against a person that they have done wrong just to shut them completely down as a heretic. Personal pride in a person does this, to constantly point out anothers flaw just to demean them........

I however like Perry Stone.
He has good teachings and if he was wrong in a issue then he admits it, for his main area of teaching is prophecy. But he is very good at using the whole bible for his lessons.

We must remember when it comes to TV evangelists it is not wrong for them to ask for money (tithes) to help keep their ministry going, sell their books, or even sell their DVD's. What becomes wrong is if they misuse that money to only provide for themselves and not help others. The scripture that says freely you have been given freely you should give is referring to the gospel message. Study materials are a different issue as they can sell them to support their ministry, help others, and even support their families......

I like Joyce Meyer, I listen to Marylin Hickey I'm a steward it's not my money it's God's. There are many countries that the ONLY gospel they hear is online or on tv. How is this to be contined if not with our support. Would it really hurt to give up a dinner out or a movie? gonna go to iran and preach yourself????

Sorry you got stoned, Dana but remember the religious community rejected Jesus.

I know this doesn't matter, but I can't seem to find time to watch them: Creflo and Joel's live broadcasts on their sites. So, I'm gonna just listen to their podcasts of the show from Sunday.

I have listened to Andrew Wommack for years now so would give him a thumbs up.
