I mean I love to see the look in my boys eyes when he sees his presents under the tree.....but I think I suck at it... and I am a perfectionist and it is one of the things I just cannot do well. Is there hope for me?

I love wrapping presents. I too am a perfectionist when it comes to little details that God is helping me overcome. But dearest Sirk I think you are overthinking it. Maybe have someone wrap the gifts for you, or use gift bags. Or just go the simpler route and not wrap them at all, that way you don't have to clean up all the wrapping paper Christmas morning, thinking ahead for you even though making a mess is the best part:)

sirk, dude you probably really love seeing your son tear into his gifts, paper flying, but you might think about using the bags with the colored tissues on top. I do that with most all my gifts. quick and easy.

The Sirk, are you sure you're ready for wrapping Christmas presents? You have to make absolutely sure that you're ready for Christmas presents. You're still young, don't think about such things until you're old enough to enjoy Christmas. You have plenty of time. I say enjoy your life until your old enough to wrap presents. Pfffttt... Sorry, I can't keep this up long.

A decade ago I use to gift shop at the mall and the pretty gift wrapping was included. My family members would compliment me on my wrapping. Then I would say "oh thank you it took so much effort... Not." Anyway, then I got sick of the crowds at the mall and started all my shopping on Amazon. I get free shipping. As for my gift wrapping I do OK, except for those oddly shaped gifts. Those turn into science projects. Thankfully, my kids think the world of me. :)

I don't so much wrap presents, more like I throw it on them! :D
I've even been known to use newspaper.

Part of me hates the thought of spending loads of money
on wrapping, ribbons, bows only for if to be ripped off and
end up in the bin in a matter of seconds.

Am I a bit weird for thinking like that?

Ps I know someone who very carefully and lovingly wraps up every
present to perfection, must spend a fortune on wrapping, but the
gifts are so disappointing.

They have a particular habit of buying bath stuff bubble bath, bath bombs for me etc.
What is wrong with that you ask?
Well we don't have a bath we have a wet floor shower room and she knows it!

Make it fun. ....a challenge.

Try wrapping the presents using only your eyelids and toes.

LOL!! I got two more to go but he is with me til weds. Bags are no fun...if I was a kid and got a bag I'd be bummed. If I was Bill Gates I'd wrap them with 100 dollar bills....I bet I could get em really pretty and tight. Lol

Because it is a pain in the butt!!! I personally go to Dollar Tree but the $1.00 bags and put the gifts in and tape it shut and I'm done. SO much easier!!!! Plus they are not boring as I use packing tape...hahaha...they have to rip the bag apart!

I always get myself worked up at wrapping presents as no matter how I try its never neat. My local chippie wraps his fish and chips up neater then I do! I tell myself its the thought and love that goes into it that counts.

I know why it makes you crabby, its because when you wrap it too tight, the corners of the box tear through the paper...that's enough to make anyone go postal.
