Well....its happened now acctually.

An old friend, who works for the FBI no less, told me not to long ago that she is a HORRIBLE speller because computers have been a part of her whole adult life that she always had spell-check to clean up after her. She never had to get it right the first time.

I'm trying to keep my kids as *old-school* as possible, for as long as possible.
For example: My daughter is in 4th grade and the teacher uses a program called SpellingCity to give them their spelling tests. 1/2 the time my daughter can't spell the word outloud, but she can type it. GRRRRRR....so I have informed her teacher what a bad idea I think it is and I quiz my daughter at home the *old fashioned way* and then only let her do a practice test on the computer once. I know we live in a world with technology etc...but c'mon, lets give the kids a bit of pencil and paper foundation first!

it not technology that worries me because you can have ebooks and knowledge at your finger tips. its the lack of questioning of the written/printed word that is more concerning. If its on TV or you read it on the internet it MUST be TRUE, right?

mmmm
