I loved that time. My friends and I were all young, full of life and believed we could change the world!
It is a great shame that Hendrix and others died so young. There is a belief that Jimi Hendrix may have been murdered.

Yeah, I read that too someplace. They found ligature marks around his neck. I liked his song Foxey Lady, I had a little dog I named Foxey Lady.

I think one of the greastest intros ever in rock music was the stones satisfaction in later years when they had that twangy, dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah at the beginning.

Gosh. How could they have gone from THIS to the unlistenable "We built this city on rock & Roll"?

Greatest thing about 1969 was that I was born, yeah, the summer of '69.

The only problem with this picture is I don't think many of the geriatric hippies could get on the ground unassisted to get in sleeping bags! :p
Most would be around 65. And I still water ski, swim, snow ski, kayak, fly, and ride motorcycles at 70. My sister-in-law just did a Marathon (admittedly "fast-walking") and climbed Diamond Head a couple of years ago... and she is over 80.

Remembering things not quite so pleasant was the lottery - and I don't mean the fun one either. It was the birthday lottery of the first to be drafted into the military with an almost 100% chance of going to Viet Nam. I remember me, my brother, and several friends were all sitting around the tv watching this thing and if somebody's birthday was chosen, we'd all laugh it up and it was great fun. My brother's number was chosen and we all laughed at him and pointed. Then my birthday came up at #37 and I groaned and my brother didn't laugh like the rest did. A moment of reality passed over his face while his lips tightened with a slight shake of his head. It's not until your number was up that the thing became not so funny after all.

When I think of Vietnam I think of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire".

WOW, That was a mighty post! The VW was Tubalcain at his finest. The shit never ends here does it. :( Breaks my heart that our boys took the insults that sould have gone to our government. I need to put my POW flag out more often. Did you ever see Platoon?

All the insults are why everybody's trying to repent now. Guilt steadies a rocking boat, I guess. Yes, I saw Platoon. I think your Tubalcain (great reference, btw) dances about in ole Charlie Sheen's head now.

I was too far from Woodstock and a little on the young side - I was 17, and a wannabe hippie. Within a year, I was a real hippie! I did see the Woodstock movie. I wonder if you could find that somewhere, like Netflix?

As for the music, I loved it all. My favourite Byrds song was 8 miles high! This looks like it comes from the Ed Sullivan Show

One of the greatest enigma's of the 60's for me was Timothy Leary. College professor turned acid guru, with his famous "turn on, tune in, drop out"

This isn't the movie, but it gives you three and a half hours of the feeling. (Put it on FULL SCREEN View.)

Wow, that was GROOVY MAN! lol Jerry Garcia with a full head of black hair, Richie Havens without a tooth in his head, and boy could Hendrix bend those strings (it takes a stout person to be able to bend strings), and of course Joe Cocker with his magnificent voice.

I skipped through a lot of it but thanks for posting that.
