A lot we still dont know or understand, probably never will, this side of heaven. I have found the best way to make sense of energy, our physical world in general, is to look for references and/or clues in the bible. Only after doing that, if the worldly info does not line up with the bible, then just throw it away. If it does line up, pray and investigate further.
Even with all that, the full or maybe even partial answer may never be evident, or if it is, may take years to understand.

I've been doing energy work for a while now. I started with tai chi for a while, moving energy around my body while getting some exercise. Dabbled in chi kung for a while. I started my own version of it where I was projecting energy. Animals apparently react to the energy and it makes people feel strange. I've spent so much time on this but I've stopped to ask if this is technically magic.

I've also discovered something related to pain relief and energy work in where you use your body's energy to numb pain. Should I teach it or is this magic? It's very confusing where the line is.
yes, this is sorcery.

Well let's go a bit further and apply my knowledge of what is possible. Let's say I teach people how to block out pain mentally in some fashion. Is it truly worse than them getting addicted to drugs we now use? Could the opioid crisis and countless deaths been avoided if we had a natural means to block out pain? Would then it be an evil to mentally block out pain rather than get addicted to drugs? It's a strange conundrum.
and what if teaching people how to do these things leads them into New Age religion, and then into blatant occultism, and then into outright worship of the devil, and then they come before God at the Great White Throne Judgment and get tossed into the lake of fire?

Would it be evil then? Would it be worth it?

Blocking out pain is great, but what about their spiritual condition? Pain is temporary, heaven and hell are eternal.

Jesus Christ created and holds the world together, not the Tao or an invisible force called chi: “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:16-17). Doing Tai Chi, even for physical purposes, is paying homage to a spiritual belief system at odds with God’s Word.

Now that said I think the fact that you are part of this community says that maybe you are looking for change, I can't tell you what to believe but maybe instead look for the grace of God. We are not perfect but you have taken the first step.

have a nice day !
