I made some toothpaste today, with only about 5 ingredients (and, yes, you can pronounce the name of each..along with a tiny toddler!!).
Coconut oil
Baking soda
Frankincense oil
Myrrh oil
Vitamin E oil
Stevia
I didn't measure anything, added about 5 drops of frankincense and 7 of myrrh. I meant to do 5, but some escaped.
I think I added too much stevia, but the baking soda was just so overpowering that I had no choice. I have made homemade toothpaste before, but it was a fail. We've been buying Nature's Gate (I think that's the brand) ever since then and it's about $5 a tube!! This homemade kind is soo much cheaper.
I combined the coconut oil and baking soda in a 4 oz. baby food jar and stirred them together with a fork. Then I added the frankincense and myrrh oil. After that, I put in stevia. I tried some, then added more stevia. And some more.
Finally, I was happy with my product and added a little vitamin e oil.
I was kind of hesitant to try it on the toothbrush, but in the end, it was good tasting!
