Yes, I am taking supplements and on an antidepressant. Yes, I am exercising and trying to eat right and drinking water. I really think my sleep cycle is out of wack. Plus I am down about the debt I am but trusting God to free me from it. I also have congenital adrenal hyperplasia which basically means my adrenals don't do what they should and produce too much cortisol. I think I have that right. Doctors wanted to put me on steroids and I am not doing that. It is a lot better than it used to be but still just want to stay in bed some days are worse than others. I believe it has to do with perimenopause as well. I am 46.

Thanks in advance for any help. God bless you.

I will pray for you, God is your only hope

Try to go to bed at the same time every night. Do stuff during the day, so you can sleep, then go to sleep around the same time every night. So you develop a normal sleeping pattern, that and a healthy breakfast will start to solve your problems.

Are you asking encouragement or advice?

Best way to influence your sleep cycle by natural means is

- Daylight!

Get out every day , preferably get out shortly after waking up, this will make your body break down the melatonin (which is what tells your brain it's night- time) Get out even if it's so cloudy it doesn't feel like there's any light :p

- Food / drink:

I am no expert on the topic, and I am highly sceptical of "miracle" diets, but I do think that what we eat can affect our energy levels.

- Exercise
You don't have to run a marathon, but using your body a bit every day supposedly also affects sleep and energy levels.
Most times the advice is a 20-30 min walks pr day (which also gives you daylight!)

I have heard that most sleeping disorders can be fixed by forcing yourself to wake up and go outside and watch the sun rise in the morning.. Do this very day,, And i also heard that wearing dark sunglasses in the afternoon untill it is night time also helps to fix ones sleeping clock.. But....

You have a medical condition congenital adrenal hyperplasia and that could cancel out all the common advice that will help people with normal sleeping problems.. So maybe the Ideas i have given above will not work for you because of your medical conditions..

But we can always pray for healing.. I hope God causes you either to over come it or make it through it..

Thank you so much for your prayers and advice. Today I am not really all that sleepy and had about 5-1/2 hours sleep. I would love to get up and watch the sunrise but have always been a night owl.

Looking for anything really. Thank you for the advice. I will try getting outside when I wake up. I just figured if the sun wasn't out that it wouldn't do any good.

I am not very good about going to bed at the same time but will try to do that. I am eating greens and eggs now for breakfast and think that is starting to help already. Thanks for your advice.

If the various medical issues are the problem, then maybe rather than stressing
with not sleeping at night, it would be better to accept this is how it is for the
moment and work around it.

If you can get 5-6 hours sleep at night then accept that as normal for you
and try to factor in a a day time nap to compensate.

I had Graves' disease 10 years (over active thyroid) and I couldn't sleep for more
than a few hours at a time due to severe palpitations and every nerve on my body
throbbing and jumping. I could even feel the veins in my neck and stomach
throbbing.

Worrying about not sleeping just make it harder to sleep, as soon as I just went with the
flow it was easier to deal with. I snatched an hour or half an hours sleep where I could
during the day. Sometimes I just nodded off in the chair.

See your doctor as well to see if they can suggest anything.

There is no rule that says you must have 8 hours sleep only at night time.

Wow that must have been very hard with your nerves doing that. I am sorry you went through that.

You are right, if less sleep works for me then that is what I should do.

Sometimes on the weekends I sleep a lot and will still be wiped out later on. So more sleep usually doesn't work for me but I tend to fall into that rut.

Yes being a Night Owl tends to lead to sleeping disorders after a decade or two of being a night owl. :)
