For those of you that enjoy working out. What is your schedule/routine like?

Here is Mine. I work out 5 days a week.

Mondays: Chest, back, arms
Tuesdays: Shoulders, legs, abs
Wednesdays: Chest, back, arms
Thursdays: Shoulders, legs, abs
Fridays: Full body work out, core

I also do cardio for 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week and I do Yoga/stretching, 3 days a week.

I bike to and from work, for about 40 mins.

During lunch time breaks at work:

Mondays - 5 kilometers run

Tuesday - Yoga class

Wednesday - 7 kilometers or jogging up and down stairs

Thursday - yoga class

Friday - 10 kilometers run

Question is, is this too much cardio? Like I don't do any weights.. is this a bad thing?

See, I do exactly plus or minus what you do, except the weights:Chest, back, arms.

Is this a bad thing? Will my bones grow weak?

My routine is weight lifting 4x a week, stretching, cardio and spiritual rest within the temple. Mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health is important. Turn on your music and dance with joy and freedom as David dance!

That is a good question. For some people it could be too much cardio but for other people they can do way more cardio, especially if they are training for a marathon. It all depends on where your fitness level is at. It always helps to do weight lifting because you want to have a balance of both cardio/weights. I'm no expert at this stuff but this is what I like to think for fitness :) I try and balance everything so I'm not doing one thing more then the other.

Heck, that's awesome. All I really do is cycling, about 4 days a week. Right now I'm strengthening my rotator cuff first so to prevent other potential mishaps before I get into a good upper body workout.

That's a good idea. Don't think I've ever done that.

How did you start of doing weights?
Well, I have hired a personal trainer a couple of years ago who I am still with today. They've been showing me great exercises to do with weights and the proper techniques. They correct my technique if I'm doing it wrong.
It's always best to have a Personal Trainer (if you can afford it) and always start off with the lighter weights of course because weights can be dangerous if you don't know what your doing, you can get injured quite easily. Start with the light weights and work your way up to the heavier ones :) If you can't afford a Personal trainer, find someone who likes to work out and hopefully they know the proper ways and they can help you get going until your confident enough of doing it on your own.
Hope that helps! :)

I used to walk a lot, run, and sometimes tennis or badminton but now...??? Esp. with trigger finger, beginning arthritis?, even gripping a door knob hurt. I recently saw some simple tai chi thats just that, simple, like for 20 min. warm up you'll sweat as you already are in this heat while not moving yet...! I asked angela what she thought of it (tai chi) tho. Wonder what others think of this. I saw some, A.Queen, for one, post some stuff for older ppl sometime ago also.

I run my longer distances 3 days a week, 5-8 miles but I'm working on more. 2-3x per week, alternating with my run days, I weight train with an upper and lower body split. On the weight lifting days I do HIIT or sprints to improve running speed. Then I have my off days interspersed between these plans.

I'm new to weights so I'm still figuring things out there. It's really fun, though.

I suggest starting with a weight that you feel you can do 5 reps comfortable but still heavy enough that you can't do more than say 8-10..so something that has a bit more resistance weight...

make sure you have good form and technique.. i would go slow first..try to 'feel' the muscle working in that area.. that's what I normally do anyway..

I'm a fan of warming muscles up before weights and cool down.. so I'll do some stretches or some yoga moves.

So there's probably two ways to build muscles..

1. go as heavy as you possibly can..with low number of repetition
2. Not so heavy but you can do more repetition (intensity)..

Anyway, hope this helps! :)

Enjoy! :)

Ja, thanks Ann.. I actually went to the gym like on Tuesday, last week. Had a gym personal trainer taught me some of the machines and weight. He told me exactly what you said.

Now.. I'm sore all over :(

I'm currently training for a marathon so I just make sure I run at least 5days a week I am on my feet alot at work so Somedays I'm just to tired to work out when I get home. Thats when I use my rest days.
After running I try to weight train 2 days a week, and do abs 3. I probably should be more organized but this way I don't have to worry about missing a workout.

This got me today. It was like 85 and beautiful. I was looking forward to a nice run but then it started to storm. So I was burning up on the treadmill. My neighbors a farmer and depends on the rain so I've learned to view it as a blessing (even if it interferes with my running plans)
