Greetings from A Christian Otaku!

Hello everyone!

I am new to the site and the reason I came here is because I feel like my faith in God could use a boost, that and I am struggling with sin D: I think that being around people that share my beliefs will really help strengthen my relationship to God, and to meet some great people who love God as much as I do!

Okay so allow me to introduce myself. My Name Is Jonathan, and I am A Christian and an aspiring anime/manga artist. because I am Christian I try to stay away from any kind of media with magic or demons of any kind, so I watch more sci-fi anime . At times I will wonder if Anime is too much of an idol for me, but I try to keep God in my heart. I also play a lot of video games (again staying away from the magic/demon infested ones) Mostly on PC.


I became a Christian in my Childhood, I believe it was back around when I started first grade home school, my whole family is also Christian. Before, My mom wasn't a Christian, but she came to accept him in her College life.

Every now and then I find myself struggling with my faith, and a sin I'm almost too ashamed to admit. That is why I joined this site! I could really use some prayer friends!

Lets see, you come from a Christian family, you're a young guy who owns his own faith, yet still has a sin you're too ashamed to admit. I'm guessing porn. If i'm right i suggest looking through some of the old Singles and Family posts. You'll find this subject comes up constantly. And if thats not it, i'm sure there are plenty of others here dealing with, or dealt with whatever it is. So don't let shame keep you from seeking the help you need.

Well the reason I say I am ashamed is because my sin really makes me feel stupid and weak, and unworthy of God. My sin relates to lust, being masturbation. I admit that I am a sinner in this way, and I have been fighting this sin for so long. I think this began a long time ago when I wanted to know what it was like to be loved by a girlfriend, and unfortunately it went to far. I am afraid that Anime may take some part in it. I love anime but I don't want it to be a source of sin, or an idol set before God. I feel like I am caught in a pickle here. I never saw anime in itself as evil, but I have seen some of the content to be evil. You sound like an experienced Christian, what would you do in my situation? I will never turn from God for any idol, and if I ever do I will run back to God.

Hi jacksparrow head, it's the same goes for movies and music, I think there is no problem liking them but we just have to choose the ones that won't tempt us to sin in our miinds, which is really difficult. I've read a book called 'every man's battle' that's when i found out what struggle guys go through so you are not alone, it also helps if you talk to other men in your community for support

do you watch gundam?

I haven't yet seen that one, but I have read a manga series that is similar to that show in containing the Mecha style, It's called "Full Metal Panic! I would highly recommend that one.

Thank you! although I will have times when I "Geek out" and indulge in Anime and it makes me wonder if I am idolizing it to an extent, but I do try to keep what I watch in check. The biggest problem I have is I love anime but I also want to love God, and I know in the Bible it says you can only serve one master, while hating the other. I don't want to serve anime, but merely enjoy it, sometimes I'm afraid of enjoying anything that doesn't involve God. I know that sounds rather silly, but it is something I've always wondered about. Sorry about my rambling on it's just nice to know someone is listening to me.

I thank you for your encouragment! Yes it is true we are all with sin, but free in Gods mercy. That is a concept I have so much trouble realizing because I'm so used to the idea that disobedience is usually disciplined in some way, and of course discipline isn't any fun. Sorry I didn't mean to go on again XD

Welcome Joe, we all have sin and I am also struggling with it. It's never easy but with God it is possible. I find it easier to to control myself and especially my thoughts each day when I turn my focus on God. When temptations come, I sing and worship Him. I'm still in process.. nice to know you
