O
I have been a Christian ever since I can remember. However, it's not been an easy ride as none of my family are Christians. This has left me with no real guidance, especially in an increasingly secular world. Until I found a few friends who attended a local New Frontiers church. I began going with them and became increasingly involved with the church. However, after about two and a half / three years I became rather disenchanted with the whole system. I found the church 'elders' (without wanting to cast aspersions) to be judgemental, two - faced, discriminatory and above all hypocritical. This left me feeling more confused and alone than ever before when, one day, I unwittingly came into contact with the local canon. I told him of my interest in becoming an ordained minister and he offered for me to come with him in a 'day in the life' of a priest.
This day came and I was very impressed with what I saw and wanted it even more. I was made aware that it would be a long journey but I still remained undeterred. I was given my servers robes and made an alter server very quickly. I was then made part of the reading team and put on the rota to read lessons every so often. I am now also a member of a local ministry support team who meets up to support a local trainee minister. At present we are in a period of interregnum in our parish and are awaiting a new incumbent. I have been advised to talk to him / her after they are settled in in order to take my application to the priesthood to the next stage. I will try and keep everyone on here informed of my progress as it shall be an amazing journey in my spiritual, personal and professional life. Anyway... thank you for reading and God bless you all! - Michael.
