welcome to CC. Actually going into one of the chat rooms would be a tremendous step forward! :) To do so, go to the top of the log-in page, and click the blue "chat now" button. :) The chat rooms are in real time, but the forums are sporadic as to who answers and when.

Seems to be some interesting debates on this site.!!

At the moment I can't say I'm a Christian or not, I believe there must be a God or something.
so you can say I'm searching. I picked up a Bible two days ago (first time) and I've read Genesis, interesting read.

The reason for this sudden change in my life is one question...what on earth is going on in the world and where is God
in this? I certainly don't have the answer, so I thought I will try and find some .

I suppose starting at the beginning will help? I don't see the point of starting a book half way though.

Advice always welcome.

Welcome! Well, Genesis and the old testament is always good to know, but a lot of people might suggest starting off with Mathew and the Gospel/New Testament only because The Old Testament was the way things were in the beginning and before Christ came, fulfilled the law, and made salvation accessible to all whether Jew or otherwise. It does a lot also to project to what you might see now too in the letters. The Bible is an interesting thing because even though it is a "book" it's a collection of books and poetry and letters, so starting half way isn't quite the same as in other books. But it is up to you, It say there's a right or wrong way of going about it. It's just awesome that you're reading it! As for debates, well, that is the nature of the internet and a lot of people holding firmly to something that a lot of people get a lot of different things from for better (gaining helpful insight) or for worse (tearing people apart). There are things to get from discussion, but it's always good to go back to the source. Which you are, so that's good! It's a pleasure to have you here, sorry if that got a little long. Any questions feel free to ask (understanding you may get a lot of answers here). I wish you the best on your search. It's a wonderful one to be sure. :)

Thank you for some good advice. I kind agree with what you are saying about start reading the Gospels. I Myself have some knowledge on or about the Gospels, ie from Sunday School, School Assembly, Christmas Nativity Play, like most people my age!!

The challenge for me is to find out what God is all about, funny thing after reading Genesis he sounds a bit nasty...lol... It's certainly not put me off, I intend to start Exodus late this week.
