I defined myself as a Christian up until recently, when I did some searching inside of me and found that I was Agnostic more than anything. I do not know if there is a god. I know Jesus existed, it's historical fact. But his preachings that he was god's son lead me back to IF there is a god.
I am a very scientific person. I believe there is an explanation to everything, but that there is so much complicated matters in the universe that, until, in future generations, our brains have grown enough for us to understand it.
Anyway, I'm in a hard place right now. I have this deep fear of dying and going to hell, but I just don't have the faith to believe in god. I am also going through some mental health issues right now, and maybe that's part of the problem.
I would love answers, but not anything telling me to pray or have even mustard-seed faith. I have tried prayer, my faith is so much smaller then a mustard seed that it shouldn't even be compared to that.
My question is, generally, what scientific evidence exists of a god or intelligent designer of any kind? Please, I hold Christians with the utmost respect, but have had some unpleasant run-ins due to my lifestyle and lack of faith. I'm just looking for help.

Hi there, TeenageAgnostic,

I think all of us have questioned at one time or another if there is a God out there somewhere. Looking to science for our answers is faulty, because science is what humans have discovered. Looking beyond ourselves, beyond that which is human, is how we will discover God for ourselves…. and that takes faith....faith in something we can't touch or see… in someone that is higher than us. But, when you think about it, believing in science takes faith too.....putting faith in conclusions that have been deduced by mortals. We can find scientific evidence that backs up the historical elements in the Bible, but the spiritual elements must be evidenced within our hearts. I'm afraid I may not have the answers you're looking for, but there is One who does. I'll be praying for you in your quest, that your search leads you down the path to the right destination..... to Truth.

P.S. I noticed in your profile that you quoted Ecclesiastes 1:11. King Solomon gained so much wisdom through the difficulties as well as the many follies of his life. In 1:11 and throughout much of this book, he makes note that everything is meaningless, showing the futility of anything apart from God, everything under the sun (on this earth, and those things that are done through human effort) has no real meaning. But, finally, after all of his musings and venting, when it was all said and done, he came to an excellent conclusion in the last chapter of Ecclesiastes, which he hinted at in 7:8, “The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.”:

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)

TeenageAgnostic, I was an Agnostic at your age. I wasn't even sure if Jesus existed. All I could do was ask questions, read the bible and read books about God. I don't know if there is any scientific explanations or evidence of God's existence, because a lot of it speaks against God's existence.

I know this is a slightly unscientific answer, but I will go for it anyway:

Science teaches big bang: In short: "Nothing" explodes, resulting in something (matter), then matter, by chance (randomness) ends up as advanced life.

The bible says that in the beginning was God, and the word, it also says the word was light, and that God is love. It says that an intelligent, loving creator shaped the earth and everything on it.

To me this simply makes more sense :)

PS: I am not "against" science, I actually love it. I am however not a believer of randomness ending up as a system :)

firstly look up Michael Behe to learn about irreducibly complex cells, next, know the scientific fact that life can only come from life and know that all life finds its source of life in the one who has been alive forever...life and matter could not have come from absolutely nothing...they had to have a source and the source of all life and all matter is God...He spoke everything into being with the power of His word...to believe in a Big Bang as the source of this complex, intricate and well designed universe is like believing that an explosion at a printing press factory could produce a dictionary...we see in creation that there is a creator just like we see in a watch that there was a watch maker or we see in a painting there was a painter or we see in a building there was a builder...these simple things could not have just happened..how much moreso this complex universe could not have just happened...humans are the pinnacle of that creation because we are made in the image of God...even though God is a spirit...He sees all and we see through eyes, He knows all and we know things with our minds....He has expressed Himself perfectly through Jesus and to reject Him is the greatest sin of all

To the teenageagnostic,
at least you seek truth. this is a start. But let me tell you. science does not disprove God...for me, science only makes me more in awe of the wonder and wisdom of God!! im studying medicine currently and let me tell you, there is no way the delicate balance that our body is in, the complex mechanisms of our tiny cells, the wonderful checks and feedbacks and defence our body puts up could have ever just randomly happened. i am just amazed.
recently my dad informed me that they have discovered that atoms are made up of substances called quarks (i think). Quarks are made up of sound waves...so all of matter is made up of sound waves. Guess how this whole universe got created? AND GOD SAID... genesis 1:3...
Scientists are struggling to answer questions of our existence. i've have read their reports on theory of evolution etc with a open and logical mind. and man, the loopholes that exist...anyway the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.
the whole earth, the whole universe testifies of God's glory. when you come to God, believe that He is (first step) and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him!
i know i sounded preachy but i get excited when i talk about God :)

Proof of Gods existence is all around us, if one opens their heart to him he will open our eyes to see.
Even the mere leaf of a tree, in its design with veins like we have providing the flow of nourishment for its existence, being made to fold in only as much as necessary to endure the harshest winds without blowing off, is evidence of a divine creator with intelligent design.
The wind which is needed to blow past the leaf to creat the transpiration of water to be siphoned from its roots
is called upon by God partly due to the sun being the perfect distance away from us in order to provide just enough temperature differential between night and day creating a wind current in which the high pressure fills the low pressure.
The leaf then Creating oxygen for us to breathe
Oxygen useful not only for us to breathe which actually creates the heat within our own bodies but heat, for fire.
Speaking of the heat our bodies creates
Does anyone find it extremely interesting that no matter what we eat, how much we drink whether it is hot or cold outside(to a certain extent)
The temperature of every healthy person on earth is well regulated to 98.6 to a tenth of a degree WITH NO FAN EVEN
and we with all our sophisticated electronic technology can barely keep our house that well regulated.

The fact that Hydrogen.... one of the most dangerously flammable substances known to man,
and oxygen the catalyst with which it needs to burn to create the chemical chain reaction of sustained heat.... fire
Yet when these two elements of hydrogen and oxygen are combined, are the very thing which puts out fire
The epitome of genius
who else can do such a thing?

The Bible indicates in several places that the universe has been “stretched out” or expanded. For example, Isaiah 40:22 teaches that God “stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.” This would suggest that the universe has actually increased in size since its creation. God has stretched it out. He has expanded it and is still expanding it.
This verse must have seemed very strange when it was first written. The universe certainly doesn’t look as if it is expanding.
Yet even science proves Gods existence in their experiments one of which directly relates to this example
When distant stars are viewed scientists were struck by noticing their light exhibits a red phase shift
indicating they are moving away from us
A blue light shift would indictate the object is approaching
and neutral of course standing still
None showed approaching or being still.
This deemed the universe is expanding
and they still cant figure this out since human sciences own laws indicate that an object cannot accelerate without a force being apllied to it
Therefore what being could be applying a force to all of the universe for it to be accelerating?
things that make you go hmmmmm
looks as tho God doesnt follow human laws of science
Rather we need to observe his

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

Isaiah 55
6Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7Let the wicked forsake his way
and the evil man his thoughts.
Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.

Job 26:7
He spreads out the northern [skies] over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.

Again science accidentally proved this verse when astronomers having directed their telescopes to the northern sky discovered an empty space, where there are no stars. Like a tunnel in the sky
In looking up another very interesting portion of the Bible

Psalm 75 where we read: 'When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly...For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge' (75:2,6,7). Here we have the implication that the throne of God, where He judges the congregation is in the north since it is not in the east, the west, nor in the south as stated in verse six.
Very likely the very same place from which God suspends the earth

"And let us realize that north is in the same direction from every point on our earth. It is the same from Africa as it is in America. It is the same from England as it is in Europe. North is always up everywhere on this earth.

Also notice this in Romans1:20
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

And if you need help believing, think this over, we dont hope for what we have already seen, for how can one hope for what they have already seen, we place our hope in what have not yet seen. We place hope and faith in God The creator, as opposed to the creation.
If you think about it, he is everywhere, in everything, even you.
Who else knows the number of hairs on your head and knitted you together in your mothers womb
He knows you intimately and wishes for you to know him just as much
Thats why he provided his words for you...in the bible

U a welcome and nice to u.

On the worldly side, science disprove God and said dat God does not exist. That everything came into been on account of nobody even man. That man came through evolution.
But i tell u that they are a lies from pit of hell. What they said is like a son turning to his daddy and said to him ''daddy u a not existing i came to earth of myself ''.
This is why God look at them and called them fools.
"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good." (Psalm 14:1).

welcome! I'm new here too! Read Case for the creator and/or Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. They put all the evidence for God and Christ on trial. My husband was an athiest b/c he's very scientifically minded like yourself, until he read these books. Now he has an unshakeable faith!
